Belles That Mean Business- Adrian Bracy

By: Amanda Anderson

Football may be a man’s game, but there is plenty of room for a smart and talented black woman to find success.

Adrian Bracy is no overnight success.

At a young age, she envisioned she would become a successful lawyer. Instead of attending law school, the Morgan State University alumna received her master’s degree in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University.

While taking an undergraduate accounting course at Morgan State University, she realized that a career in accounting was her true calling.

Bracy began her successful career as an accountant for the Baltimore Sun from 1983 to 1986. She left the Baltimore Sun and began her long career in the NFL working for the Miami Dolphins as the controller. She also served as the treasurer for the Joe Robbie Stadium, which is now known as the Land Shark Stadium.

After spending more than a decade with the St. Louis Rams as the Vice President of Finance, she then left in 2007 to become the Chief Financial Officer of the Arizona Cardinals.

Although Bracy has an impressive track record as a professional in the NFL, she always had a passion for working in the community. Throughout her accounting career, she has worked with various non profit organizations. She served as a board member for Girls Inc. and also served on the advisory council for the St. Louis Branch of the United Negro College Fund.

Currently, Adrian Bracy has taken a bigger role in working in the community. She is now the Chief Executive Officer of the YWCA of Metropolitan St. Louis. With her track record as an NFL executive, one can be sure that she will do some incredible things at YWCA.

Honors Include:
