Kelly Rowland Releases New Song ‘Smooches’ While Causing Controversy With Teyana Taylor

Singer Kelly Rowland releases new song “Smooches” from her upcoming studio album.

Kelly Rowland is currently working on her third studio album and attempting to get her big break as a solo artist. Her last album was actually a banger, but it did not manage to leave its mark on the charts as Rowland hoped. While Beyonce might have established a successful solo career and Michelle Williams a successful Broadway career, Ms. Rowland is determined that this album will be the one to make the charts on her own terms.

The album will a follow-up to her 2007 release, Ms. Kelly. While the album is still untitled, a track has managed to leak from unfinished album. The song, entitled Smooches, might just be the hit that the singer needs to carve her own name in music history.

The song was produced by Bangladesh, the producer of such hits such as Beyonce’s “Diva” and Lil’ Wayne’s “A Milli.” The track is a certified banger, and sports heavy beats and catchy lyrics that Kelly Rowland will surely need to make it on the charts.

Although the song has not been cleared as an official single, the track has already caused controversy in the music industry. Specifically, it has caused backlash from upcoming singer/rapper Teyana Taylor.

Supposedly, Teyana Taylor recorded the song first, and was set to release it on her upcoming album. Angry, she quickly turned to her Twitter account to express her disappointment and thoughts of leaving the music business to pick up a college degree.

My guess is that Rowland will likely win the battle due to her seniority in the business. While it may suck for Taylor, we all know that Kelly will need quite a few bangers to become the star that we all know she is capable of becoming. Maybe this is the sound she needs to get away from the “Destiny’s Child” shadow that has been hunting her for years. We’ll see which one of the ladies will claim the track.

Anyhow, peep the single yourself. Is this a banger or flop?
