WBA Welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather, Jr. defeats Shane Mosley

Although Floyd Mayweather, Jr. was victorious in this one, Shane Mosley didn’t back down by any means. In fact, Mayweather was almost a victim of a second round knock out, catching a strong right hand from Shane Mosley.
On his second round blow to Mayweather:
“I caught him with my big right hand and I tried to move around but by that time he was too quick and I was too tight,” “After the right hand I thought I needed to knock him out and I needed to do it sooner than later. But I couldn’t adjust and he did.” –Shane Mosley
After nearly dropping Mayweather early in the fight, Mosley just couldn’t seem to get his rhythm going. He attributed his difficulties to the 15 month layoff that he had from his last boxing match. Many people also questioned if his age would be a factor in how well he measured up to Mayweather. Despite critics’ opinions, Mosley managed to take the first two rounds. But it was all Money Mayweather from there on out. He went on to win the last 
10 rounds of the fight, landing a total of 208 punches out of the 477 that he threw.
After the fight, Mayweather was asked whether or not he was still willing to get into the ring with Philippines’ boxing sensation Manny Pacquiao.
On fighting Manny Pacquiao:
“If Manny Pacquiao can take a blood and urine test then we have a fight,” –Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
Mayweather and Pacquiao were scheduled to fight earlier this year. But due to Pacquiao’s refusal to take a blood and urine test, the fight was postponed. Mayweather handled “Sugar” Shane quite well but will he do the same against Pacquiao? That question may be answered sooner than we think.
