O.J. Simpson Fights To Appeal Charges In Hotel Scandal

By: Taren Vaughan

It’s been 14 years since the murders of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson, ex-wife of former NFL superstar O.J. Simpson. Even after being found not guilty of the murders of his former wife and her friend, Orenthal “O.J.” Simpson found a way to get involved in another troublesome situation that could potentially cost him years in prison. In September of 2007, he was arrested on armed robbery and kidnapping charges at a Las Vegas hotel. Simpson claims that his conviction in the hotel incident where he allegedly held someone at gunpoint was a vengeful attempt to send him to prison over his acquittal in the 1994 murder case. He also went on to say that he is requesting a new trial because there were no black people on the jury to back him up. I don’t think that would have mattered much but hey you never know. Simpson’s lawyer Yale Galanter said that his client’s trial should have been held with delicacy considering his past:

“O.J. Simpson brought such baggage into the courtroom that special care had to be taken during jury selection, jury instruction, during testimony and the whole trial,” “There had to be heightened awareness to ensure that O.J. Simpson received a fair trial.” –Attorney Yale Galanter

There are quite a few people who would like to see O.J. go down by any means necessary. So it’s not surprising that he feels like people are just out to get him. But putting himself in a position like this was not a smart move on his behalf. O.J. got let off the hook once already even though people still to this day think he is guilty. A second time is not looking to favorable for him at the moment.
