Battle of the Verses: Nicki Minaj vs. Lil’ Kim

Which M.C. did a better job of ripping the mic; Lil Kim or Nicki Minaj?

By: A.J. Niles

While many people feel that the beef between Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj is rather dry, one can not deny their statuses as some of the best women to ever pic up a mic and revolutionize Hip Hop and the female rap game forever. In this edition of Battle of the Verses, we have Lil Kim’s verse from Mobb Deep’s Quiet Storm Remix, released in 2000 going up against Nicki Minaj’s verse on Kanye West’s Monster, also featuring Rick Ross, and Jay-Z, which was released in 2010.

So who had the dopest verse?

Lil Kim in the Quiet Storm Remix:

hot-damn-ho here we go again, light as a rock b-tch(UH)
hard as a c-ck b-tch(UH), this s-it knock for blocks through hard
tops in the parkin lot, where my ni–a rock like to spark a lot,
my brook-lon style speak for itself, like a wrestler another notch
under my belt, the embezzeler, chrome treasurer, the u-n-o
competitor, i’m ten steps ahead of ya, im a leader, y’all on some
followin s-it, come into this game on some modellin shit, b-tches
suck cock just to get to the top, I put a 100% in every line I drop,
its the q to the b with the M-o-b-b, queens bridge, Brooklyn and
we d double e-p, wha, y’all wish you had the life i live, a yo
Prodigy, tell them what this is dunn

Nicki Minaj in Monster:

Pull up in the monster
Automobile gangster
With a bad b-tch that came from Sri Lanka
Yeah I’m in that Tonka, color of Willy Wonka
You could be the King but watch the Queen conquer
Ok first things first I’ll eat your brains
Then Ima start rocking gold teeth and fangs
Cause that’s what a muthaf-cking monster do
Hairdresser from milan, thats the monster do
Monster Giuseppe heel that’s the monster shoe
Young money is the roster in the monster crew
And I’m all up all up all up in the bank with the funny face
And if I’m fake I aint notice cause my money aint
So let me get this straight look I’m the rookie
But my features and my shows ten times your pay
50k for a verse no album out!
Yeah my money’s so tall that my barbie’s gotta climb it
Hotter than a middle eastern climate, find it
Tony Matterhorn dutty whine it
Whine it, nicki on them titties when I sign it
How these niggas so one-track minded
But really really I don’t give a F-*-C-K
Forget barbie f-ck nicki cause she’s fake
She on a diet but her pockets eating cheese cake
And I’ll say bride of Chucky is Child’s play
Just killed another career it’s a mild day
Besides ‘Ye they can’t stand besides me
I think me, you and ’em should Minaj friday
Pink wig thick a-s give em whip lash
I think big get cash make em blink fast
Now look at what you just saw this is what you live for
Aaahhhh, I’m a muthaf-cking monster!

  1. I love Kim, I really do. But Nicki Minaj dethroned her easily on that Monster track. She had the best verse, it was even better than Jay’s. I wish these two could stop the drama and get on a track together. But in the meantime, Nicki came out on top on this one.

  2. Lil’ Kim easily. She didn’t need any gimmicks or anything, she just ripped it like an old G. That whole track goes harder than Monster ever could. Nicki can’t even compare.

  3. Monster was definitely one of Nicki’s better verses but Kim’s verse on Quiet Storm is unforgettable. Her flow, delivery, and lyrics still stand stronger than most of these other chicks whole catalogs.

  4. Nicki hands down. Can’t stand her but when I first heard her on Monster I was very impressed. She was witty and energetic enough to forget anyone else was even on the track before her. Kim is still a legend, but when Nicki raps for real, she gives Kim a run for her money.

  5. Nicki. Man yall are acting like old farts! LOL. I know Kim did some great things music wise, but Nicki is way more talented than Kim. Look past the gimmicks and you’ll see that. She can sing, she’s witty, she’s able to out rap the boys on the track with her. She is miles ahead of Kim. And yes, the Monster verse is better than any verse Kim has ever done.

  6. This is a tough one because the Hip Hop head in me knows I should say Kim. But you have to give props where due and Nicki slaughtered this track easily. I’m not saying Nicki is a better rapper than Kim, but her verse was definitely better.

  7. LMAO! Kim is washed up! Nicki slays her on every song she records. And in real life, she’s slaying the career of Kim and any other female rapper that came before her. Give her some damn props already people.

    1. Nicki isn’t even a real female rapper anymore, so how is she slaying all the others? Nicki did exactly what she had to do to make it big, abandon rap as much as possible and sell out. She’s a pop singer, not a rapper.

  8. Team Kim all day. She’s the original black barbie and it’s just one of those verses that show what hip hop used to be.
