Birdman of Cash Money: I Wish People Would Stop Trying Drake Like a Lame

Birdman thinks that Drake is no pushover and wishes people would stop attempting to test his manhood.

Cash Money Records considers themselves to be a family of sorts. The label is not afraid to publicly stand behind an artist in the midst of ridicule and controversy. They previously circled the wagons when Lil’ Wayne cancelled Nicki Minaj’s performance at Hot 97’s Summer Jam, due to radio personalities failing to keep things professional and dissing their headlining act at the concert. They are now closing the ranks again, standing behind superstar rapper Drake, who was involved in a bottle-throwing incident and brawl at a club in New York City with singer Chris Brown.

Cash Money CEO Birdman let the media know the label’s stance behind Drake in an interview with MTV, which he speaks to Drake’s courage, behavior and manhood; as well as since they are family, the label will stand in full force behind one of their own.

“Well, to me, I think n—as got Drake twisted. A lot of n—as be playin’, pitty-pattin’ [sic] with Drake. I don’t like that sh–, period. Drake is one of us, so if you f—in’ with Drake, you f—in’ with us, period!”

Birdman also speaks to the importance of not letting a beef ruin the label’s opportunity to make money while acknowledging that things could possibly get out of hand.

“We never been a brand to carry ourselves in any foul manner. None of us, none of the acts. We’ve been doin’ this, we want to do this for another 20 years. [But] It’s a different era, and we don’t promote that, we’re not about that, but I think sometimes sh– get outta hand, and you just gotta be ready for it,” he said. “We did enough of that, so these n—as ain’t got to do it.”

There are currently rumors that Drake is still facing an arrest for the brawl with Chris Brown.
