Kevin Hart might be a hilarious comedian, but he knows how to get serious and help others who are currently being affected by natural tragedies. Just weeks after Hurricane Sandy has left many in devastation and without homes, the comedian showed just how big his heart really is. Last week, Hart donated money and gift cards to the victims right before  took the stage in Philadelphia for his “Let Me Explain” stand up tour.

According to Page Six:

Kevin Hart helped out Hurricane Sandy victims before taking the stage with his “Let Me Explain” tour. The comedian viewed the destruction in Newark last week before meeting with Mayor Cory Booker and presenting him with a $50,000 check for the Fireman’s Charity Fund. Hart also left $50,000 worth of gift cards and donated supplies, before performing at NJPAC. Saturday, as part of the New York Comedy Festival, he took the stage at MSG for a crowd including Fabolous and Rasheed Wallace.

When talking about the donations, Kevin Hart, a Philadelphia native, says:

“I didn’t just want to come here and do a show. This is a way to stand up for the population I love. I’m blessed; and to be able to help these families obtain the basic necessities that they need is both humbling and uplifting.”
