Rihanna’s Father Defends Her Relationship with Chris Brown

Rihanna and Chris Brown may be back together and making no apologies for it, but that hasn’t stopped people from slamming the rekindled romance between the two singers that ended tragically in 2009 when Chris assaulted Rihanna in a car on that infamous night of the Grammys. Rihanna made it clear in her interview with Rolling Stone that she feels like she’d rather deal with the criticism of taking Chris back than not giving their relationship another chance. Rihanna even claimed that Chris has changed drastically for the better since the incident, however, Chris’ recent legal troubles and fight with Frank Ocean makes her claims harder to believe for a lot of people.

The couple may continue to get bashed by the media and even by some fellow celebrities for giving their relationship another chance, but it appears they can at least find support from their family members.

In fact, Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, supports Chris and Rihanna being back together. He tells the Mirror Newspaper:

“Chris made a mistake… a terrible one. But I’m a great believer that everybody deserves a second chance and Chris is no different. Everybody goes wrong at some point. I certainly have. But it is how you come back and live your life which is important. And as long as she is happy then so am I. Everybody has had their say about her and Chris but it is up to her to find her own way. Chris has always been polite and kind to me and treated me with respect. That’s all you can ask from your daughter’s boyfriend.”

Rihanna has said on several occasions (and even in her interview with Oprah) that her father was abusive to her mother. The singer even claimed he struggled with drugs while she was growing up.

  1. “Chris has always been polite and kind to me and treated me with respect. That’s all you can ask from your daughter’s boyfriend.” — Umm, really? How about asking that he keeps his fists to himself? Or how about asking him to RESPECT your daughter just as much as he respects you?! This man is sad. No wonder Rihanna is back with Chris. I’m sure she sees a lot of her dad in him! Wow.

  2. WOW. I am lost for words. All I can say is that I am very close with my dad. He cursed out one of my ex boyfriends just for yelling at me on the phone. I was a teenager, and my boyfriend and I got into an argument, and my dad heard him screaming at me. He quickly came over and snatched the phone from my ear and told my ex not to ever set his two feet on his property again, or he would kick his a-s. That right there taught me that I couldn’t allow a man to talk to me any kind of way. And I doubt my dad would tolerate a man who abused me, so that’s most likely one of the reasons I never tolerated an abusive relationship. Sounds like Rihanna’s dad is a big part of the problem. We accept things our parents accept.

    1. Exactly. I’m not shocked by his comments. He said recently he hopes they get married. Rihanna and Chris are just doing what they saw happen in their childhoods.

  3. I sincerely hope that Chris does not hit Rihanna again. Because if he does, a lot of people are going to look stupid. I hope they prove people wrong.

  4. Chris & Rhi are happy & in love..that’s all that matters. It’s no one’s business or place to try to tell them how to live..u cant be in judgement of other people who u dont know from Adam! Her father loves his daughter & is speaking from his heart as a man who’s made PLENTY of mistakes so he can relate as we ALL should because none of us are perfect and we ALL mess up! That’s the point the man is trying to make! This happened 4 yrs ago and it should’nt even still be discussed because it’s the PAST and people change. Why cant Chris be given the same opportunity to show his growth & wisdom from that bad situation like anybody else? These two love each other hard & will continue to be together no matter what your nothing..negative..hateful..judgemental opinions of them are..MORE POWER TO THEM!! As long as he keeps his hands to himself in the future..get off of them & worry about your own relationships..THEY ARE HAPPY & IN LOVE and i wish them the best!!!

    1. Your post is very off base. Chris and Rihanna are FAMOUS. They will be scrutinized like everyone else who is famous. They don’t get a pass because you like them. So you have to deal with it just like they have to. And no one will stop talking about what he did to her because it was terrible. People are still in shock that he did it. He was baby face young singer on top of the world. We saw the picture and the image will never leave our minds. Chris also doesn’t help things because he is still violent and getting in fights. He should have walked away from the Drake situation and the Frank Ocean situation, but he didn’t. And there’s a police report that suggests he told Frank he would shoot him. There’s video on TMZ of Chris threatening some random guy when he left the club the other day. He doesn’t know how to WALK AWAY which means he hasn’t changed at all!

And if you think Chris and Rihanna have love, I feel sorry for you dear. I really do. No one who loves a person could beat their face and mouth in, then abandon them on the side of the road.

Not to mention, he’s still cheating on her. Which is exactly why they had the incident in the first place.

No Dad who loves their daughter wants them to keep a guy like that in their life. Rih’s dad feels GUILT. And that guilt makes him support Chris, someone who reminds him plenty of himself. Raise your standards.

As a former victim myself, I commend all of you ladies who are smart enough to see what’s wrong with this relationship. “Judgmental” women like yourself helped me get out of a very terrible situation that almost caused me my life! Thank you and keep being judgmental. You might save someone else!

      Peace!

    2. What a stupid comment. You’re on a gossip/celeb blog. Um hello, that’s the point…to talk about their business! Then you rant about how judgmental people are, but you just judged everyone on here who made a comment you didn’t like. Then to top it off, you just said that getting your a-s whooped in a car is real love. LOL, I live for the ignorance of you Breezy fans. Thanks for the laugh. Please come back and do this more often. I need a little humor to get through the work day. Everyone else on here was too smart to invoke the humor you just did in your comment.

  5. While we love comments, we do not allow personal attacks. What is the most disturbing thing is that the young woman (People Need Help) who is a former victim of domestic violence herself was just called “stupid” by someone who is in support of Chris Brown (Becky). That is not acceptable and we do not allow our readers to talk to each other like that, especially when they are willing to open up and share their own struggles with everyone else. There’s a way to talk to each other, and there’s a way to disagree. I detect too much anger from the post as well, so it was deleted. We can’t support the demeaning of one of our readers.

Everyone will not agree when it comes to the topic, but we will not allow disrespect, nor will we allow victims to be attacked when they share their story.

For future reference, we welcome MATURE comments. Anything else won’t be posted. This is not a site for personal attacks. Let’s be adults.

    Thanks.
