You just have to love and hate social media. On one hand, it’s a great way to stay connected to people you’ve met in all walks of your life, and then there’s always those moments where we’re all reminded that social media is the perfect platform for people to do and say things they wish they could take back later. Now Keyshia Cole likes to portray an image of a woman who is “real” and stands by all the things she tweets, but when it comes to the music industry, it’s possible that tweets and any forms of shade can ruin your career before it even takes off. That’s something that some would say Keri Hilson knows quite well, especially considering that she seemed to have so much potential until she appeared to be coming for Beyonce in a remix to “Turnin’ Me On.”

Just one month ago, Keyshia decided to shade Michelle Williams during their Super Bowl half time show. And Kelly Rowland then decided she’d check her, and reminded her that Destiny’s Child has achieved more in their career than she has and pretty much no one’s checking for her like they are checking for DC. Keyshia then suggested that people label her as some kind of villain for speaking her mind and she finds that to be unfair. And then to make things even more interesting, instead of coming for Kelly for providing the shade, she instead goes after Beyonce and her recent single “Bow Down/I Been On.” The Beyhive slaughtered her on Twitter, and to a lot of people, they feel that Keyshia’s isn’t all the way wrong, but they do feel that she’s more jealous than right.

Singer Meshell Ndegeocello (Her Billboard hits include Wild Night and Who Is He?) decided to give her views on the situation, and in a rather nice way; she tells Keyshia Cole to have several seats and stop criticizing other singers. And most would agree that it is becoming a trend for Keyshia.

Meshell writes on her Facebook page:

“I really felt good when I heard the new Beyoncé track “Bow Down / I Been On.” The energetic frequency transcends the lyrics and that’s beautiful. Keyshia Cole, “there is a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women” – Madeleine Albright said that once and it rings true. Stop critiquing people and lets support one another in the world. I, too, once felt it was necessary to give my two cents but the world is in real need of more detailed, nuanced analyses. Don’t take things out of context. “Bow Down / I Been On” is no different than the swagger many MC’s take AND IT’S FUN! Most of all, my body wants to move to it ;)”

    1. Ok 1st someone tell this has been singer kissing beys but wont get her respect. Lastly although bey is the more achieved artist i can truthfully see keyshia having no reason to hate… however. What i do find funny is everday people got so much to say on celebrity sh-t.. while keyshia is about that life people on here running they mouth about another celebrity who doing better than them.. so tell me how are you helping the matter by judging keyshia throwing shade at her doing exactly what you claim she was wrong for doing? Why should keyshia be humble while bey insist that all other female artist bow down and respect her like its a Damn law?like its not happening enough. Im a fan of both these women.but i feel sometimes people dont look from all angles. You think keyshia being an less achieved artist doesnt require her to have an opinion? Then you mock her and say she doesnt have a life. We’ve seen her go from nothing to something.reality show 4 albums and because she didnt sell her soul she hasnt achieved much. While bey has a silver gold and now platinum spoon in her mouth all her life she never had to struggle or want for nothing.. smh.. lets these artist do them. Who are you to judge them and tell them what they can speak of? i dont care how successful someone is we all human and if u do something i dont like im a let you know. Beyonce is not god no one should feel threatened to tell her about herself. This chick wanna throw shade at keyshia for giving her opinion only cuz in this scenerio shes the underdog f-ck outta here.

  1. I love this response. But the crazy thing is, Keyshia just doesn’t get it. Her saying anything about the song confirmed that she’s miserable and insecure. Rihanna didn’t say anything. Why? Because she’s on tour and she knows she has a banging career right now. Chick doesn’t even have time to tweet because she’s so busy doing her thing. And I don’t even like her but it’s the truth. Keyshia has too much time on her hands and she needs to get off her butt and fix that.

  2. The only way Keyshia can get attention now is to tweet about people who are more successful than her. This is the most attention she’s ever received. We will all forget about her next week. Again. Then she’ll tweet something else. How pathetic.

    1. Agreed. And some people on the white sites were like, who is Keyshia Cole? LOL damn. She needs to send Bey a thank you card for the exposure.

  3. So many truths in her response. Beyonce has a way of bringing out the insecurities from the weak females. I listened to the song and started dancing. I didn’t question myself or even feel like she was singing about me. Why? Because I’m not insecure enough to let one chick’s ego make me feel salty. Keyshia needs to get it together.

    1. THANK YOU. I have to shake my head at females who got offended by this but find it cute when a rapper gets cocky on his songs. Women take one step forward and three back on a daily basis.

      1. *Standing Ovation*…I don’t understand why men get away with so many things and women can’t,and the first ones to criticize aren’t the men but the women…..To me it feels like Beyonce in adressing her haters and if Keyshia feels she isamong them so the song is for her….SMH

  4. Wow. What an intelligent and true take on the situation. But in the end, Beyonce will be fine. Keyshia hasn’t slowed down her success any. If anything, she did slow down her own though. Oh well.

  5. King Bey isn’t worried about Keyshia. Like the old folks say, elephants don’t swat flies!!!! Moving along.

  6. Keyshia needs to stop “critiquing” people because she’s terrible herself. She can’t sing. Her attitude is nasty. And she’s boing on stage. I wish she would just go away already. Does she even have a grammy? Exactly.

  7. I don’t think Keyshia is a hater, she is keeping it real by stating her opinion. Why does she have to be insecure just because she is stating her opinion. I didn’t even listen to the Beyonce’ song yet, all I had to do was look at the title and I know it was going to be ratchet and saying something you shouldn’t say. How can Beyonce preach girls run the world, but then come around and call females b-tches and tell them they need to bow down?A woman should not use that word towards another woman period.. Another thing I think Beyonce is feeling herself too much nowadays and I feel that she is doing the most. These are my opinions just like Keyshia was stating hers. We may not agree with everything everyone says, but that is the good thing about America, we dont have to.Just bc you don’t agree with certain things doesn’t make you a hater or insecure. Keyshia is beautiful in her own right and she brings a realness to her songs and as far as Michelle Ngello or however you spell her name she needs to have a seat. Just because you’re a woman doesn’t mean we don’t support you it means we may not be supporting a choice you made. That’s whats wrong with celebrities these days they have too many yes men afraid of telling the celebrity no.B*tch is such a derrogatory word, whether it comes out of a mans mouth or a womans. And one more thing for someone who has had such a problem being open with what they are doing in their personal life all of a sudden Beyonce is doing films about her life, saying she slept with her husband before performing yada, yada, yada. She is like look at me, look at me. Have a seat.

    1. Blah, blah, blah! You’re obviously a Flop Cole fan. Keyshia is the BIGGEST hypocrite. All she does is put down other singers. Miss me already trying to make it deeper than it is. If she had some business about herself, she wouldn’t have all that time to tweet about other people ALL THE TIME. The other females doing their thing didn’t have time to tweet about Beyonce. They are too busy having careers. LOL, Keyshia is pathetic.

    2. Beyonce needs to have a seat? Well maybe she can just take the one Keyshia was sitting in when she watched Bey perform at the SB. Or maybe she can take the same seat Keyshia’s been sitting in since her second album. All she’s been doing since then is sitting and tweeting. LMAO!!!!

      1. LOL I swear I read the articles just for the comments sometimes. Y’all are absolutely hilarious, I love it ^_^

    3. Keyshia isn’t insecure? Really? So why does she feel the need to shade and tweet about other singers all the time? She even tried to go after Mary J. Blige, who is highly respected by her peers. Beyonce may have had a cocky song (she’s had several already, so you are overreacting like Keyshia), but she’s not putting down other singers every time they have an accomplishment. That my dear is insecure.

      1. Exactly! When you are confident in yourself, someone else’s cockiness doesn’t bother you. Like I said, only Bey can bring the insecurity out of females.

    4. Girl goodbye! I will answer your essay in a few sentences. Keyshia Cole is a b-tch! She tried Mary J. Blige, Michelle Williams, Fantasia, Beyonce, and even tried K. Michelle before she even got on LHHATL. K. Michelle! Why on earth was she intimidated by K. Michelle who is just now putting an album out? I’ll tell you why, she got mad because some people said they look alike and K. reminds them of her, so she had to talk greasy about her on Twitter. And what was K. doing? Minding her own business! She doesn’t like anyone who can take her imaginary spot. People in the business talk about how much of a nasty female she is all the time and she’s hard to work with! She is not a nice person, and yes she is insecure!

  8. I have to laugh at Keyshia Cole’s stans. They are trying so hard to defend the obvious…Keyshia’s a hater and always has been. She can’t even keep any female friends. What happened to her friendship with Monica? Right. Oh and she dragged her own sister on twitter. Get mad at Bey all you want, but at least she’s loyal to her own family members and friends, Keyshia is a b-tch.

    1. No ones TRYING to defend her. Because the truth is keyshia wears her ugly out there.. her being a so called b-tch isnt new..

  9. ‘A special place in hell for woman who don’t help other women’… I don’t think that quote applies here. That’s way to harsh an analogy for this situation. Keysha simply said that she was not crazy about the song. It’s a hit for some and a miss for some which is completely understandable. She wasn’t nasty or disrespectful toward Beyonce. I don’t get the big deal around not saying anything that’s (not perfect) about Beyonce? I don’t get it, and doubt if I ever will.

  10. beyonce a natural born leader.. and uno wat to hate on her because of that is pathetic.. keisha should take a leaf out of her book.. beyonce has never had to hate on any1 NEVER.. Y? because she is secure and it shows, and looks on to other fierce women around her and unites with other women!! Too many ppl put us women down, so y do we continue to put each other down.. #WHO RUN THE WORLD GIRLS!
