Kendrick Lamar is enjoying the success he has had so far a one of the newer faces in the rap game. And while he emerged during a time where a lot of people feel rappers aren’t really as conscious as they were in the past and that there is some sort of conspiracy going on when it comes to the current state of Hip-Hop, Kendrick has proven himself to be one of the realest emcees out right now as he landed himself at the top of MTV’s ‘Hottest MC’s’ list and proved that he wasn’t afraid to shy away from the stereotypical views of the music industry. With fame and fortune, the masses of groupies tend to follow right behind that, something that Kendrick Lamar is very well aware of. Yet while many rappers enjoy the love that groupies give them, Kendrick Lamar admits to Interview Magazine that he is scared of dealing with them for he has seen situations get very out of hand when it comes to groupies:

“I’m probably the most scared person when it comes to that because . . . of something going crazy, going out of my control. I’ve seen a situation where it got totally out of hand.”

While Kendrick Lamar’s fan base continues to steadily grow, he may have damaged it just a bit with one of his recent performances at SunFest in Florida, Gossip Extra reports:

SunFest officials approached rap star Kendrick Lamar before his curtain-closing performance last night and asked nicely that he keep his show relatively clean because, they told him, families with young children would be present for the fireworks that followed.

Obviously, their pleas fell into deaf ears.

For nearly an hour and half, the singer of Let me be me and Look Out For Detox peppered the crowd of 15,000 with f bombs, n bombs, c bombs and m bombs in numbers that may have never been seen in the 31-year history of SunFest.

Needless to say, thousands of residents of the downtown West Palm Beach towers that surround the main stage heard Lamar too!

The festival’s publicist Melissa Sullivan spoke on the situation and said that the thousands of residents and festival goers were not too thrilled about Kendrick’s profanity laced performance:

“Obviously, we’re not happy about Kendrick Lamar’s performances. We need to find a better way to vet people like him. Sometimes, when we ask some of the artists to keep it clean, they use profanities in higher numbers just because we asked.

“Once they get on stage, God knows what happens.”

To make matters even worse, a man was stabbed in the midst of Kendrick’s appearance and two arrests were also made. Sullivan also spoke on the criticism over the happenings associated with Kendrick’s show, she says sometimes organizers don’t have a choice when it comes to who performs:

“Sometimes, we have no options. That’s show business. Routing doesn’t allow us to schedule some of these. Train couldn’t come on any other day than Thursday. Smashing Pumpkins couldn’t have come if it hadn’t been Wednesday.”

  1. He’s very smart to be so fresh in the game. Now whether or not he stays this smart is the real question. And LOL at them getting mad at a rapper for cursing on stage. People are hilarious.

  2. I love Kendrick. He’s a breath of fresh air. I just hope the success doesn’t corrupt him like it does a lot of people in the business at some point.

  3. He’s definitely one of my favorite rappers right now. Very intelligent and extremely talented.

  4. I can’t help but chuckle at them telling him not to curse…don’t book a rapper for a family event. LOL.

  5. You tried to tell someone to keep it clean, who has lived a life of struggle, cursing or whatever is embedded in who he is, where he is from. The question is, why are young children at a Kendrick Lamar concert in the first place? How about parents start doing their job and pay attention to who the kids listen to. Try being a parent for a change, and as for the stabbings, what the hell does that have to do with the comment? People get on my freakin nerves. KEEP THE KNOWLEDGE FLOWING KENDRICK can’t keep everyone happy.
