Beyonce’s Dad Mathew Knowles Gets Married (Update)

Mathew Knowles married? It’s no doubt Beyonce owes a lot of her success to her father Mathew Knowles‘ impeccable skills as a business man, but after the singer decided to cut ties with him and start managing herself, there have been many reports suggesting their personal relationship had also ended. Although Mathew is still in Beyonce’s life, they aren’t as close as they used to be and many seem to think it’s because Mathew cheated on her mother Tina Knowles. And if that’s not hurtful enough, Mathew’s affair resulted in a son outside of the marriage. Of course Mathew and Tina ended up getting a divorce, and since then there have been numerous reports suggesting he was engaged to a realtor and former model. The Associated Press now confirms he got married last Sunday. Gulf News reports:

Beyonce has a stepmother.

Her father and former manager, Mathew Knowles, got married last Sunday. His representative told The Associated Press on Friday that he has wed former model Gena Charmaine Avery in Houston, Texas. The pair had been engaged for a year-and-a-half.

The 48-year-old Avery is a realtor. The 61-year-old Knowles guided his daughter to superstardom with the group Destiny’s Child and later in her solo career” she released her father as her manager in 2011.

While we do have to congratulate Mathew and Avery on their new marriage, we do have to question if this is just another blow to Beyonce, her mom and Solange considering reports suggest they’ve already been having a hard time adjusting to his other child.

Update: Looks like Beyonce and her sister Solange didn’t attend the wedding. Mathew tells TMZ:

“Unfortunately, Beyonce and Solange had previous engagements which made it impossible for them to attend.”
