The boycott against Florida has caused many people across the country to join together in the movement to seek justice for Trayvon Martin after George Zimmerman was found not guilty of murdering the teen in the state. And because many people feel Trayvon deserved justice, numerous entertainers in the industry have shown their support of Trayvon Martin’s family in many different ways and some of them have gone to the extent of refusing to perform in Florida over the trial verdict. Stevie Wonder was the first artist to join the movement as he vowed not to perform in the state ever again until they made changes to the “Stand Your Ground” law.

Not long after Stevie told his fans he would no longer be putting on shows in the state of Florida, Mary Mary and Chaka Khan added their names to the list. As more and more entertainers continue to join the movement, Ron Isley’s name can now joined the movement as the legendary R&B soul singer plans to join the Florida boycott. Ron Isley’s boycott of Florida won’t begin right away though as he has a performance scheduled in Florida for this upcoming fall. However, he plans to give Trayvon Martin’s family all of the money he makes from the show, Ebony reports:

Isley’s support of the boycott won’t officially begin until after a scheduled fall performance in the state, but he has plans to donate proceeds from the show to the Martin family.

“We have something that we were signed to do and that we have to do. But we are planning for all that money from that concert to go to the [Martin] family. After that we boycott from hereon end until they change that law.”

  1. This is great and all but I’d love for the younger artists to take a stand. It seems like the legends are the ones quick to take a stand, while the young artists stay silent. I wish it wasn’t like that.

  2. This is great and I’m also glad he’s donating money to the family. I hope Trayvon’s parents keep fighting until the laws are repealed.

  3. This is sort of a controversial topic. Its sad for their fans in that state but good enough to stick it to Florida. If a few more major artist like Rihanna and Lady Gaga also sign it will cause some serious problems. I see them modifying this law by early next year.
