Kanye West dropped by The Breakfast Club this morning and gave a very candid interview in which he explained why he’s been so frustrated lately, as well as the entire premise of his controversial music video for “Bound 2.” He even spoke a little on his “beef” with President Obama and explained he once again feels he and Kim have more influence. And surprisingly, he even admitted that he and Kim aren’t as wealthy as they seem.

Here are the highlights.

On why he’s so frustrated as of late and ranting everywhere:

“It ain’t that I feel like a slave, we are mentally enslaved. We enslaved to brands, we enslaved to like a Benz symbol, we enslaved to chains. A woman is enslaved to the concept of diamonds are a girl’s best friend. And like girls in London don’t even wear engagement rings. That has been programmed into us. When we’re born, we’re born artists. We’re born free and then we’re held down by society’s perception of us. We just don’t want to be embarrassed. And I took the opportunity to look as stupid as possible.”

On he and Kim not being as wealthy as they appear:

“Me and Kim we on our grind. We have to do what we have to do to get to this point to be able to support our families. But we ain’t there yet. We ain’t financially to the point to make sure that North is safe at all times and that’s the reason I’m turning up right now.”

He also says he only did an album with Jay Z (Watch The Throne) because he wanted to learn how to be more likable:

“When I was doing Watch The Throne one of the main reasons I did it was to learn Jay’s techniques on how he talks to people. Man I be talking to people the wrong way sometime. I be rubbing them the wrong way. Jay Z know how to move in a room full of vultures. As his little brother, I needed to learn his technique because I have something God wants me to give the world.”

On looking crazy:

“I’m not saying I can’t use tightening up. I’m not saying I’m flawless.”

Kanye also said that “Bound 2” was supposed to reflect “white trash”:

“Oh I wanted to take white trash t-shirts and make it into a video.”

When flat-out asked if the video was supposed to be terrible, he says:

“Yes, I wanted it to look as phony as possible. I wanted the clouds to go one direction, the mountains to go in one direction. I wanted the horses to go over there. Because I wanted to show you that this is The Hunger Games. I wanted to show you that this is the type of imagery that’s being presented to all of us. And the only difference is a black dude in the middle of it.

“The thing is I ain’t got a problem with looking stupid.”

Kanye says that people only hate him because he tells the truth:

“For the most part when people don’t like me, it’s because I said the truth. So if I can get in this much trouble for telling the truth, what are you being told all the rest of the time?”

And when asked about his “beef” with Obama, Kanye says he just feels he and Kim are more relevant:

“I said we’re more relevant. Don’t nobody care about what Obama wearing.”

  1. Kanye just said yesterday that Kim’s family is the new day Cosby family and she’s the most beautiful woman in the world. Now he doesn’t speak the truth, he speaks HIS TRUTH and it annoys the hell out of everyone else because it couldn’t be further from THE truth.

    1. I agree with this. He tells the truth until he starts talking about the Kardashians. That’s when the delusion kicks in.

  2. “Oh I wanted to take white trash t-shirts and make it into a video.” >>>> He just threw shade at his own fiancee.

  3. I really didn’t think Charlamagne would have the balls to say all the disrespectful stuff he says about Kanye to his face. I see I was wrong. LOL!

  4. And for the record, Kanye is wrong about him and Kim having more influence than the Obamas. Just the other day Sasha made some unicorn sweatshirt from ASOS sell out because she was photographed wearing it out. I’ve never heard of Kim doing that for fashion. Michelle O does it on the regular too. And they don’t even need sex tapes to have that kind of relevance.

  5. I miss the days when Kanye would only give a few interviews a year. Now he does a few everyday. He is really a Kardashian now…just starving for attention.

  6. “Me and Kim we on our grind. We have to do what we have to do to get to this point to be able to support our families. But we ain’t there yet. We ain’t financially to the point to make sure that North is safe at all times and that’s the reason I’m turning up right now.” <<<< Materialistic people don't end up wealthy. Until they change their mindset, I can almost bet they will both file for bankruptcy in about ten years.

  7. So let me get this straight. Mental enslavement frustrates him and is the cause behind his rant…yet what he feels makes he and Kim more influential than the Obamas is that no one is checking for what Barack is wearing?! Hell, Kanye is the epitome of materialistic but you want to reference our culture as a whole as if we all fall victim to it? GTFOH.
With all the Unsung episodes I’ve seen and stories about older artists that plummeted for whatever reason, I cannot wait to see how this ends for him. It didn’t take him admitting that he doesn’t care about looking stupid. It’s been painfully obvious over the years and it’s so saddening to see such talent go to waste. I reeeeeeeally want people to stop interviewing him!!!

  8. Stop. It is painful to watch. His arrogance is so out of control that he cannot see the irreparable damage he is doing to himself. These are the very reasons Kim & her family will use to distance themselves from this train wreck. Just wait. The same reasons they will site to keep North away from him. He speaks of Kim but she stays mum. She is a very smart slore. He is delusional. I believe his mother kept him together mentally. Losing her has him in free fall.
