Selling out? LHHNY Star Peter Gunz Admits to Doing Show Because He Was Broke

Peter Gunz married and on LHHNY because of money problems? Peter Gunz probably isn’t someone most of you even remember, but the rapper did have one hit during his time as one half of rap group Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz with their hot track “Deja Vu (Uptown Baby).” The group wasn’t able to get another hit after that song became a big deal and like most music acts, they faded away. However, he’s back in the spotlight these days not because of his music but because he’s a new face on “Love and Hip Hop New York.” Last season he made a few cameo appearances as he’s a close friend to Rich Dollaz, but in season four he’s a regular cast member and has his own storyline. And his storyline is a hot mess and full of lots of drama.

Peter has been dating his baby mama and girlfriend Tara Wallace for about 13 years and they have two kids together. But that didn’t stop him from pulling a Stevie J. and getting romantically involved with one of his artists, Amina Buddafly. At first, most thought Peter and Amina were just having a fling on the side, but by the end of episode one it was confirmed that he had secretly married Amina behind Tara’s back. For that reason alone, many are starting to question if the drama is manufactured, but that’s an accusation the series has been plagued with for the last couple of seasons. He also says he’s only putting his issues out on blast for that VH1 paycheck. In fact, he told a follower on Twitter he only agreed to do the show because he was so broke (read tweet from top to bottom):

 

He also dropped by Sway in the Morning and he also told Sway Calloway that he did the show because he was having money problems:

“Sh*t was gonna blow up anyway. I was going to get busted. Why not get paid to get busted.”

“I’m fu**ed up out here. Last time I went to the ATM, that sh*t told me to get the f**k outta here. I had one hit… when they called me about the show, I was 3 months behind the rent… I just gave yall what was really going on.”

 

He also tries to explain why he married his “side chick” much to his girlfriend’s frustration. His comment has some wondering if he may have hinted that most to this is just fronting for the cameras to keep the bills paid:

“As an old black man, I should be setting better examples. But at the end of the day, it’s entertainment, it’s [really] out there… my sh*t is extreme.”

 

It’s also being speculated that Peter may have married Amina because she needed a green card. Messy.
