Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s friendliness with one another ended as soon as Kendrick’s verse on “Control” went viral. In the very popular verse, Kendrick referred to himself as the king of New York and he even told his peers (Drake included) he is coming after their spots.

Apparently Drake still feels some kind of way about the verse because Drake took some shots at Kendrick after he joined the stage with J. Cole recently.

Hip Hop Dx reports:

Yesterday (July 23), J. Cole’s Dollar & A Dream Tour stop in Los Angeles, California featured guest appearances from Drake and Kendrick Lamar. During Drake’s performance, the YMCMB emcee reportedly said: “These are the only two kings in the game right now on stage,” according to The Boombox, which cites radio personality Teddy Mora’s Twitter account.

Mora’s tweet is as follows:

“Drake got on Stage, grabbed J. Cole & said “These are the ONLY 2 KINGS in the game right now on stage”.. In LA !! Thoughts ? #Kendrick ?”

Los Angeles radio station Power 106’s Rikki Martinez posted a video of Drake’s comments. In the clip, Drake says: “There’s only two kings in this sh*t right now. They’re standing on this stage.”

J. Cole performed two sets that day and Kendrick joined him at the second show just hours after Drake made the comments.  Check out the video below:

  1. I really like Drake but I hate how sensitive and catty he can be most of the time. Every rapper should feel they are the best. And most will say that in a song. It’s not new. So I don’t understand why Drake was so hurt by Kendrick saying what he did. It’s not that serious.

  2. Drake tryna throw Shade? He needs to b easy on the salt….if I was Kendrick and some1 asked me about wtf Drake said I would simple tell them “if it’s not said directly to me or my name wasn’t mentioned then it’s irrevelant” no1 has time to think he mayb b throwing shade

  3. “There’s only two kings in this sh*t right now. They’re standing on this stage.” – So did Jay Z die? Nas? Smh.

  4. Kendrick isn’t worried. He’s said all he needed to say in his music and he’s done with it. Let Drake be a queen by himself. I like his music but he keeps on getting into it with rappers who are better than him. Just stop.

  5. LOL. Drake does the most when someone hurts his feelings. Drake may have more success, but I still think Kendrick’s two albums are better than any album Drake has ever put out.

  6. Ugh Drake has so much bi-cha-sness in him it’s ridiculous. No other person that Kendrick mentioned in that verse has taken it personal except Drake. Like dude come on this is hip hop it’s a competition all Kendrick said he wants to be the best get out of your feelings.

    1. Girl yea……& his punk a$$ better be glad he wasn’t rapping when people like LL Cool J, Nas, & Ice Cube ( just to name a few) were in the game cause he would’ve really showed how much of a biotch he really is.

  7. And how many months ago did the verse come out? This is so petty. I want them to squash it seriously.

    1. I think it’s coming up on a year that “Control” came out. *rolls eyes* I like Drake but he needs to move on.

  8. I’m not even mad he went after K-Dot because I know K-Dot can handle himself well. My issue is Drake actually had the audacity to say him and Cole are the only two kings in the game right now like Jay Z ain’t still putting albums. Like Nas ain’t still putting out albums. Hell even Jay Electronica is a better rapper than him. But I get it. Everyone wants to say they are the best. It’s just annoying sometimes.

  9. This is annoying to me because I like both. I just don’t understand why Drake took it so personal. Smh.

  10. Umm…now i like J Cole and all but im not sure that he’s running anything let alone a King of any part of the game but ok…but I need Drake to leave this alone this has been months ago… why is he still sensitive about this? King Kendrick still remains unbothered!

  11. Drake can hold a grudge now. But he’s beefing with himself because Kendrick doesn’t give a damn.

  12. Drake is always in his feelings about something. The Control verse happened a long time ago. Time to move on.

  13. Drake really needs to let it go and be a real woman about it and just admit his feelings were hurt. She usually has no problems expressing her feelings, I don’t know what the problem is…
