Weeks ago Teyana Taylor’s boyfriend Iman Shumpert claimed in a recent interview that he believed the writers of “Empire” got the concept of Hakeem Lyon and Tiana’s relationship from their real life romance. When he caught a lot of backlash, he then tried to backtrack but the actress who plays Tiana on the hit show sets the record straight anyway.

Serayah McNeill tells Hip Hollywood:

“I talked to writers and I talked to producers about my character and about exactly what their view was and they mentioned people, but they didn’t mention them. They mentioned Rihanna, Beyonce … powerful women in the industry.”

  1. No one believed that anyway. It’s so obvious they got most of the inspiration from Rihanna and Chris Brown. I think Teyana really thinks she owns the trademark on big hair.

  2. It really doesn’t matter. Teyana is cocky enough to still think this show is based on her. I mean she actually thought she owned the word “Unbothered” too until Porsha shut that down. Teyana is a very delusional chick.

    1. When Porsha is educating you and you’re supposed to’ve been in the business longer….it’s time to change jobs.

  3. Both of them need to sit thinking they own hairstyles. The box cut was big before Iman’s young a-s was even born. And big hair wasn’t invented by Teyana either.
