Actress Zoe Saldana got some backlash for signing up to play Nina Simone in an upcoming biopic, and many of her critics called her out because they felt like the role should have been given to an actress who had Nina’s physical attributes.

Zoe disagreed with her critics and maintained that she would do the role justice, but now with the trailer being out, folks have taken to social media to once again voice their displeasure.

  1. I feel like Zoe is being really selfish about all of this. She knows good and well that this role was better suited for a dark skinned actress. Sometimes you just have to get over yourself and do what’s right. Now a movie that could have been great is a joke.

  2. This is some bullsh-t. Zoe continues to be obtuse but her annoying a-s knows she should have never went forward with this role. Sh-t was Viola Davis not available? Lupita? Hell they could have even gave a new black actress a shot. Someone who damn sure ain’t need to paint her face to look like Nina. Hollywood is still on some disrespectful sh-t and she should know better.

  3. This movie looks like trash. But did she think blackface was ok because she’s a black Latina? That’s not how it works. Blackface isn’t ok no matter who does it.

  4. Zoe has lost her mind. Sis is in two big franchises (Avatar and Guardians Of the Galaxy) and she just couldn’t turn this role down? Really? Her ego is getting out of control.

  5. Zoe doesn’t have the acting chops she thinks she does. She should stick to playing comic book characters with no depth…

  6. This looks a mess and everybody associated with this film needs to be embarrassed. Zoe knows damn well she is out of order just ridiculous.

  7. I’m in the minority here… I don’t have a problem with Zoe doing the film, she put her money into it after all. I just don’t think she shouldn’t have darkened her skin for the role.

  8. Blackface is not omay. Will Smith starred in Concussion, which was based on the true story of a darker completed African man… But he did not darken his skin. Where was Tika Sumpter?? And does Zoe Saldana even identify as black?? Because I’ve only heard her speak about being Latina (no shade). Don’t turn black for a check

  9. Love me some Zoe but she knows she’s wrong for this. If she had to do this role so bad, she should have done it without the blackface. Now she’s allowed these white executives to make a fool out of her. She has to be smarter.
