Mathew Knowles Clarifies Message Behind ‘Lemonade’

According to Mathew Knowles, “Lemonade” really isn’t about Beyonce but the personal experiences of everyone.

E! News writes:

“Let me tell you who she’s talking about, can I tell you who she’s talking about? She’s talking about you,” he told E! News exclusively. “You put that in context for you personally. She’s talking about you and everybody that is you, that’s who she’s talking about.”

As for whether or not the 12 new songs are autobiographical, Mathew would prefer to focus on how so many fans can relate to the new music.

“I think that’s the beauty of her creativity and I think that’s what makes it so special, is that it relates to everyone,” he explained. “Every one of us have been disappointed before and have had to go through the grieving process of anger and, you know, disappointment and then acceptance and forgiveness. And I think that’s why this again is touching so many people, because it’s universal. Everybody can relate to it.”

  1. Anyone who truly appreciates music and actually listened to the album knew this — especially with her grandmother’s speech about turning lemons into lemonade… He’s so attention-seeking.

    1. Yeah, I’ve listened to the album about ten more times and I agree with Matt. It’s not about Bey and Jay but the black woman’s experience in America as well as healing the strained relationship between black men and black women. I’m so proud of this album.

  2. I think this is common sense. But when her haters are so damn dense and can’t see beyond the surface, they can’t help but think this is all about Jay Z. Idiots. I’ve never seen a celebrity whose haters are actually more gullible than her stans.
