Janet Jackson surprised her fans last night with her separation from her husband Wissam Al Mana. The couple had their first child this year and seemed to be happy. However, according to Page Six, this wasn’t the case.
Page Six writes,
While one source said the split is amicable and the couple will co-parent their son, others said trouble had been brewing for months.
“She thought he had become too controlling during the pregnancy and she had already allowed him to dictate her appearance and even the way she performed at concerts,” the source who works closely with the couple said.
Other demands that the “Rhythm Nation” singer gave in to included toning down her 2014 concert tour — wearing clothing that covered her body, instead of the skin-revealing outfits fans had grown to love.
She also declined to do music videos that featured any bumping and grinding, trademarks of her work, the source said.
“It drove her crazy and she felt she was losing her fan base.”
A rep confirmed to ABC News that the couple is just separated, but not divorcing:

Ok this makes sense. Janet had to completely change the way she dresses and how she performs to be with him. I don’t blame her for getting tired of it after a while.
Can Janet even divorce him? I ask because I know someone else was saying divorcing may not be an option with prenup/marriage contract they signed.
Every woman should be able to be herself in her career and in her marriage. Rooting for Janet.
This can only mean Janet is going to slay her next era.
Converting your religion for your s/o can be tricky in the long run.
They probably should have figured out they weren’t going to work before they got married and later had a child together.

Sounds like Janet is at her breaking point. I always thought she was an Alpha female so I’m kind of surprised she ended up with him in the first place.
I knew there was more to it than her just waiting for the 5 years to be up to collect her fee. The way the blogs ran with the story they made her out to be the world’s biggest gold digger.
You know it’s always going to be something negative….a Lil more $$ don’t hurt of course but Janet is worth over 175mil…don’t think she’s a gold digger..ijs
