The Family Hustle Recap: Domani is Racially Profiled, TI Isn’t Supportive of Tiny Owning Coed Basketball Team

Domani’s Platfrom Recap

Zonnique reveals her boyfriend.

Zonnique and Damian are hanging out at the house. Damian plays for the New Orleans Saints. Tiny walks in on the two and interrupts their alone time. She seems okay with her boyfriend and hangs out with them both, watching Netflix.

Domani get racially profiled

While TI and Tiny are chilling with the kids, Domani reveals he felt he was racially profiled. The issue occurred late last year at a TopGolf location in Atlanta.

Domani says the manager forcibly checked his backpack and he was kicked out the place. TI and Tiny are offended by this.

“You got to stand up and fight some kind of way. -Tiny

“Nobody messes with my kids, nobody messes with my family. You’ll have hell to pay.” -TI

TI meets with his lawyer.

TI meets his lawyer Jonathan and his director of philanthropy for tips on how to deal with Domani’s situation. As furious as he is, he is fully open to following his advisors’ suggestions.

Domani is frustrated about the situation but he does not want to deal with the issue anymore.

“Sitting back and doing nothing will do nothing to fix these issues.” -TI

TI brings Domani and his other son to his childhood home in the west side of Atlanta. He is using the trip to motivate Domani to speak about his experience with racial profiling. Domani wants to make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else and wants to rap about his experience.

Next, TI has Domani in the studio to place to record the song about his experience.

TI catches his son using profanity on the track.

“When did you begin to use such controversial language?” -TI

However, TI is happy that Domani is becoming a “voice for the voiceless.” He also gives him advice about not being overly consumed with his emotions. He is also proud about his growth and development as a rapper.

Tiny, Z and Damian talk about the divorce

The three of them are out for yogurt and Tiny is probing about Damian and Z’s relationship. Meanwhile, Z asks about her relationship with TI. Tiny tells Z that the blogs are lying about her calling off the divorce.

She wants to still be cordial with serving TI the divorce papers. She also mentions that TI is not open with his location or and he’s refusing to cooperate with lawyers. She doesn’t want to serve him in front of the kids. Lastly, she says due to the delays in serving him, the courts called off the hearing.

Tiny updates her friends.

Tiny meets with Brit-Brit and Shamra for lunch. She is out without her wedding ring. They asked why the hearing was thrown out and she tells them the same thing she told Z. She is very frustrated with TI.

“You’re 36 years old, acting like a child.” -Tiny

Tiny then mentions they should go out and meet new men.

“I gotta keep moving and get out there.” – Tiny

The trio toasts to the notion.

Zonnique and Damian have date night at home

The two of them decide to cook for Tiny at home. However, Tiny’s dinner is short-lived when she is on her way out to party with her friends.

Tiny buys a basketball team.

Tiny and her friend are excited about Tiny buying a co-ed basketball team, the Atlanta Heirs. This is a new space for her but she is excited. However, she hasn’t told TI yet. She feels that he isn’t supportive about her ventures.

“I am always hesitant about telling TI about my projects. He always thinks they are about nothing.” -TI

Tiny has a tryout next and invited Shannon Brown to help judge players trying out. They hold various scrimmages and they are watching the players. Shannon is pointing out quality players for her team.

Messiah gets into an accident.

TI loaned Messiah his $75,000 Hellcat and he got into an accident. He swerved off an off ramp and seriously damaged the car. When TI asked what happened, Messiah says, “It got away from me.”

He is seriously disappointed in Messiah and tells him he can no longer drive.

Messiah decides to use driving school as a way to prove to TI he is responsible enough to drive. He takes the class with Domani.

They share the results of the driving school experience with TI and he seems impressed. TI feels this is a “teachable moment” and will be helpful when Messiah starts driving again.

In the next scene, TI is shown bringing Messiah an older model Acura that is beat up and has a cut-up front seat. The car also barely starts and has bad, squeaky brakes.

Tiny promotes her new basketball team.

Tiny is on Big Tigger’s radio show in Atlanta to promote her co-ed basketball. When he asks how TI feels about owning the team, she reveals he doesn’t know about it. She hasn’t said anything to him because she wanted to fully do her homework and didn’t know if he was going to “understand the vision.”

Tiny tells TI about the league and he is skeptical.

Tiny brings King over TI’s to tell him about owning the basketball team. TI is probing Tiny about the financial stipulations. He seems skeptical about her decision to own a basketball team.

“Tameka don’t know nothing about no d*** basketball.” -TI

Tiny tells TI she felt this a perfect opportunity and showcase of equality. However, TI expresses that women won’t do a good job as an owner.

“Everybody wants equal rights but will they do equal work?” -TI

When presented with a game jersey, he tells Tiny he doesn’t want it. Tiny expresses that this is why she didn’t want to tell him. However, she is still pursuing the ownership and in the next scene, she is shown signing the contract to own the Heirs.
