‘Claws’ Recap: Dean Tells Desna a Devastating Secret + Bryce Goes to the Dark Side

Desna and Jenn become heroes, saving Dr. Ken.

Desna is on the way to keep Bryce from killing Dr. Ken. She’s tries calling Bryce but he doesn’t pick up. Bryce already kidnapped Dr. Ken and has him stuffed into the trunk.

Desna then sees Roller in the rear view mirror. She snaps out of it, calling Jenn to learn where Bryce took Dr. Ken, which is a swamp Uncle Daddy does his business.

Jenn is picked up by Desna and they head to the swamp. Bryce takes Ken out of the trunk and Ken runs away when he realizes what’s going on. He’s only able to get away as they are startled by birds flying away.

Eventually, Desna and Jenn catch up to Ken and Desna gets in between Bryce and Ken. Desna is able to tell Bryce that Ken didn’t kill Roller. She tells him that Ken was with her that night and only got a gun to protect himself. Bryce eventually breaks down and Jenn manages to get the gun away from him.

Desna gets back to looking for a new salon but Dean is on the warpath.

When Desna gets to the salon, Polly is busy waxing a client. The client appeared to be in pain when she pulls the strip of wax from her crotch. Polly gives the client time to breathe and goes to see Desna. Desna lets her know what happened and that everything is fine.

Jenn is walking on the pier with Bryce and asks if he is going to leave Uncle Daddy alone. Bryce is still desiring to find out who killed his brother, which worries Jenn. She tries to persuade Bryce to stop the hunt with anal and fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. However, he doesn’t seem moved to stop the crusade.

Chip has a new partner to help him in his hunt for Roller’s killer. She walks to Ann who sits out front of the salon and flirts, complimenting Ann’s braids. Chip and his partner walk off and Ann eyes his partner’s butt.

Mandy takes Desna to another salon to meet the Asian woman who runs the place. Desna and the woman greet each other and Desna is invited to try out their massage chairs. They have small talk with Mandy and Desna seems impressed with the place. Desna gets a phone call from her neighbor and is told that Dean is on a billboard facing the highway, vandalizing it.

Desna leaves the prospective new salon suddenly and heads over to Dean’s location. When she gets there, she sees Dean vandalizing a billboard of the Coombs couple, their foster parents. Desna is able to talk Dean down from the billboard as onlookers converge, taking photos for their social media accounts.

Uncle Daddy questions Virginia’s story.

Desna gets back to the salon with Dean and shows the pamphlet of the new place, they all tell Desna that they can do better. Desna scoffs at this, letting them know that she feels this is the best they can do with the amount of time they have. As they are talking about this, Uncle Daddy calls and wants to see Desna and Virginia. Jenn rides over with them because Bryce is with Uncle Daddy.

Desna, Jenn and Virginia arrive at Uncle Daddy’s club where they see Uncle Daddy with Bryce and Bryce’s mom. They begin to tell the ladies about hearing about the fight Desna and Virginia had from the other shop owners. They also speak about the missing money. Desna realizes Virginia took $50,000 from Roller’s safe.

When they leave, Bryce’s mom tells Uncle Daddy she feels they know more about Roller’s death then they are letting on. Desna also starts another argument with Virginia and Virginia stands up to her, threatening to snitch if she goes to Uncle Daddy.

Back at home, Desna has another vision of Roller. However, she gets really angry when he threatens her again.

“Do you want me to choke you Roller?” – Desna

She begins to choke her hallucination of Roller.

Polly threatens Virginia in her own special way.

Virginia gets back to her condo and is shocked to see Polly, appearing to be Suzie Homemaker, baking cupcakes. She tries to get her out but Polly is in a very determined, protective mode and invites Virginia to sit down with a big kitchen knife. Polly tells Virginia that she read right through her Titus story.

“I have fantastic perception skills, pretty baby. Your long soliloquy at the clinic… have made you a prime suspect. You pretend to be a dumb-dumb because it lets you hide.”

“If whatever screwed up thing you did gets Desna in trouble, I will cut a b***h.” – Polly

Polly then throws the knife into the ceiling, scaring Virginia into taking heed to the warning.

Dean and Desna face the Coombs.

Desna is with Dean still trying to calm him down. However, it goes nowhere as Dean is angry with his foster parents still. She tries to get Dean to repeat that the Coombs are on a picture and can’t harm him but Dean just doesn’t want to get past this.

Dean then heads to his trainer still distracted with his anger. His trainer notices as Dean isn’t lifting any weights. Dean is told by the trainer that he needs to confront the source of his anger, despite Dean saying he drew the Coombs with their eyes cut out. Dean is motivated by this and catches a ride to the salon.

Desna is surprised to see him, but Dean is determined to see the Coombs. Dean demands from Desna they head to their address immediately and storms to Desna’s car. Desna says to him, “That’s not a good idea, okay,” however, Dean doesn’t care. He yells to Desna, “Get in the car now!”

Desna honors his request and they head over to see the Coombs who are showing off their house. When they get into the house, they see the Coombs walking guests through their open house. When the Coombs see them, they at first don’t recognize Desna and Dean, but Dean clearly remembers them. Dean yells out, “You… hurt us! Pee… You made us sit in pee!”

This freaks out the Coombs’ guests and they leave. When the guests leave, the Coombs’ true colors show.

“Oh my, it’s little butterball Desna and Ricky Retardo. No wonder your crackhead momma left you with us.” – Mrs. Coombs

Desna threatens the Coombs, saying, “If I find out you are still keeping foster kids, I will report your a**!”

Mrs. Coombs brushes it off, “You think anyone is gonna believe you? You’d be selling your a** on the corner if I hadn’t taught you some sense.”

However, Desna notices that the two of them aren’t sober. “You still doing coke b****?”

Mrs. Coombs scoffs and replies, “That’s what rich people do. Your people cook it. And your brother over there, he’d still be peeing his pants if iI hadn’t set him straight.”

Desna leans a secret devastating secret from Dean.

Desna realizes this isn’t going anywhere and she and Dean leave. When they get outside, Dean is still angry and Desna tries to calm him down. However he is still enraged.

“Why does evil always win?” – Dean

Desna tells him that she’s always protected him and always will, but Dean says. “I protected you.” When Desna asks how, he reveals that the Coombs molested him and threatened to molest Desna if he told anyone. He gets so enraged at this, he peed his pants.

The next day, Desna is awakened by gun shots and runs outside. She sees Dean got a gun and is practicing shooting. Desna asks him where he got the gun from and he says the sporting store.

A shocked Desna says he shouldn’t have the gun, however, Dean is adamant about keeping it.

“This is Florida, I’m standing my ground.” – Dean

Desna manages to get the gun away from him without anyone getting hurt and Dean runs off into the house crying. She picks up the gun and realizes something must be done before someone gets hurt.

Desna kills two birds with one stone.

Desna meets with Virginia and tells her they will pin Roller’s murder on her foster parents. Desna tells her that they will find someone to break into their home and plant money and cocaine. They will then go to Uncle Daddy and the police to get them arrested .

Virginia comes up with the idea of using Polly to plant the money and drugs. Desna is against it but Polly and Virginia convince her to go along with the plan.

Polly accuses Virgina of killing Roller, but Desna tells her the full story.

Desna also tells Polly that Dean was molested by their foster parents. Polly assures Desna that she won’t get caught and knows someone at the motel that has a signal jammer for the ankle bracelet.

They head back over to the her foster parent’s home and Polly heads into the house. A dog confronts Polly but she gets the dog to do tricks. Once past the dog, Polly plants the drugs and money in an air vent. Polly gets out of the house as the parents return home. When Desna gets home, she calls 911. When word gets to Chip, he heads over to Uncle Daddy’s mansion to tell Uncle Daddy and Bryce the news. Uncle Daddy tells Bryce to handle it.

As one chapter ends, another will begin.

Mandy visits Desna at the salon. Mandy tells Desna that the owner of the previous salon is revisiting their first offer. Although Desna calls the owner a racist, she is happy they are reconsidering. Mandy warns her the cost is $1500 more per month than her place but she’s happy.

Desna also tells Mandy she deserves better from her husband and deserves to eat a hamburger every now and then. Mandy agrees and they hug. When Mandy leaves, the girls celebrate, dancing to Patti LeBelle.

As this is happening, Bryce and Chip lead goons to the home of Desna’s foster patents. They break in and begin assaulting them. Bryce then shoots both of them in the back, killing them both. Uncle Daddy calls Desna to let them know what happened and Bryce killed them.

When Desna hangs up, Jenn puts 2 + 2 together, asking if Bryce killed the couple. Jenn begins to cry in Desna’s arms. When Desna gets home, she tells Dean that their foster parents aren’t around to hurt them.

At the end of the episode, we see a strange woman dancing as it appears Roller is still alive. He is waking up in this woman’s home with a large collar around his neck in noticeable pain. Roller calls out for water but the woman just attaches a heavy chain to his neck collar.

  1. Another great episode. I really love this show. And it’s good Roller is alive because that means he’s going to come for Virginia and Desna and the show will get even more interesting.

  2. I can’t believe Roller is still alive it makes no sense I thought his body burned up in the boat. I’m curious to see how the writers will go from here because it’s either going to make perfect sense or not.

    1. There was a body on the boat before they dumped him on it. He must have escaped before it was on fire
