‘Married to Medicine’ Recap: Dr. Jackie Learns More About Curtis’ Affair + Simone & Cecil Hit a Rough Patch

Heavenly and Dr. Jackie catch up over a light boxing match at the gym.

Heavenly asks Jackie if she enjoyed the “Waiting To Exhale Party,” and Heavenly questions if Jackie can ever just let loose.

Jackie says she copes with things differently.

“I want you to be human.” – Heavenly

Heavenly then questions if Curtis may have cheated because he thought Jackie didn’t care about their marriage. But Jackie says Curtis has known for years that she’s not very emotional.

In a green screen interview, Jackie says sometimes she wishes her friends would keep their opinions to themselves or just love her from afar.

Quad is working on a cook book.

She put a team together to help her get the book finished. She says the book will focus on helping people cook to connect to other people.

Her publicist tells her she needs to go on a cooking tour first. Quad likes this idea.

Toya and Eugene try to reconnect.

With Eugene working long hours to pay off their debts, it’s the first time they have been on a date for weeks. Toya is not happy with this and wonders how much longer they have until their unpaid taxes are taken care of.

Toya says she doesn’t want to end up like Jackie and Curtis.

Eugene tells her she acts like she doesn’t want to be intimate and he gets home so late, which makes things difficult.

Heavenly and her husband Damon help their daughter work on a song. It’s clear Heavenly is more annoying in the process than helpful.

Toya tries to flirt while cooking with Eugene but it goes nowhere. She tells him she’s ready to make birthday plans, and Eugene suggests they keep it simple and have a cooking contest with friends.

Toya thinks this is a good idea.

Simone confronts Cecil.

She says they had a huge argument the night before and slept in different houses.

Eugene says he’s stressed about work because a lot of people have been laid off. He doesn’t know if he will next soon.

The kids can sense the tension and one of their sons asked Simone if they are going to get a divorce.

Simone says in green screen interview that she has said she’s wanted a divorce in the past and didn’t mean it. Now she means it because she hasn’t been happy.

“This year, I feel like we are somehow growing apart.” – Simone

Cecil says they have to learn how to communicate without threatening to leave each other, and Simone says she feels like he talks to her like a drill sergeant.

“I feel like we need help, like professional help.” – Simone

With the kids getting older and heading to college, Simone worries about their future together. Cecil says they have to start learning how to have fun together without their sons being around, or they are in trouble.

Jackie gets even more bad news about Curtis.

Jackie’s nurse comes to her and shows her a new article about Curtis’ mistress.

Apparently the woman claims she had no idea he was married and they have been messing around for months.

After she discovered he is a married man, he told her to keep their arrangement on the low.

“Am I shaken? Yes, I am. Am I moved? Am I shut down? No. I’ve had breast cancer twice.” – Jackie

In a green screen interview, Jackie says the mistress needs to “sit down” because she’s not on her radar at all.

Simone breaks down, and Toya’s friend Contessa clashes with Dr. Heavenly.

Despite the news, Toya moves forward with her birthday cooking competition, and Eugene says he doesn’t know if the woman Curtis cheated with can even believed.

“Everything coming out of her mouth is crap.” – Eugene

Dr. G says it’s important to think about what caused Curtis to do what he did.

Heavenly says the woman should have figured out Curtis was married if Curtis would only see her in hotel rooms.

Toya’s friend Contessa shows up and she introduces herself to everyone.

Heavenly is a bit rude when Contessa makes it clear that she doesn’t know who she is.

“See, I was going to get to know you, but you f*cked up with me.” – Heavenly

Jackie walks in and says she’s pretty sure everyone has been talking about the new article from Curtis’ mistress.

The group divides into two teams (Doctors vs Non Doctors), with Toya being the judge.

Toya pulls Contessa to the side to talk about her first meeting with Heavenly. Contessa tells her she’s fine, even though the exchange was pretty rude.

In a green screen interview, Toya says Heavenly needs to be careful because Contessa was in the military and she’s not someone to be messed with.

Heavenly overhears the conversation and asks Contessa and Toya what the issue is.

Contessa explains she felt the exchange they had was tense, and Heavenly says she doesn’t even remember what she said and Contessa is probably making everything up.

Contessa tells Heavenly that she doesn’t make things up, and Heavenly then accuses Toya of being an instigator. This agitates Toya and she denies this. Heavenly walks off and refuses to continue arguing with both women.

Heavenly tells the other ladies what just went down and assures them she has no issues with Contessa.

“I’m just saying, I don’t have a problem with her. Don’t make a problem out of nothing.” – Heavenly

Heavenly asks Jackie how she’s doing, and Jackie says she’s fine.

Damon shows up and speaks to everyone as they are cooking their dishes.

Simone then tells Heavenly and everyone in the kitchen (in front of Cecil) that Damon is such a sweet person and she’s lucky to have him.

Cecil sees this and feels some kind of way about it.

Heavenly wonders why Simone is acting weird and she tells her that sometimes she feels like Cecil is mean to her. She starts crying and walks out the kitchen with Jackie.

Simone tells Jackie she’s trying to work her issues out with Cecil and she doesn’t think he understands that he also has faults.

In a green screen interview, Jackie says she’s worried about Curtis and Simone because this is the first time she’s seen Simone so broken by Cecil.

“Do what you need to do and the rest will come.” – Jackie

Jackie assures Simone that things will work out in her marriage.

Toya picks the Non Doctors team as the winners, as she prefers their burger over the one prepared from the Doctors team.

As the birthday cake rolls out, Toya tells everyone that her wish is that all the couples stay together. She thanks Eugene for stepping up and making her feel so special for her birthday.

  1. I think Simone and Cecil’s marriage can be saved. A lot of couples begin to have those kind of problems when the kids grow up. They have to take some time and get to know each other again, etc. And Jackie isn’t unemotional. You can tell she’s very hurt and devastated. She just doesn’t react the way people think she should and that’s just fine.

  2. This is why I feel like this show is low-key much better than RHOA. It just seems more genuine and we actually get to see people in real marriages dealing with real problems.
