‘Black Ink Crew’ Recap: Melody Quits + Donna Accuses Her of Stealing from the Shop

Sky returns from seeing her sons in Texas. She gives Cease a recap.

“It was bittersweet.” – Sky

She tells Cease that things went really well with her youngest son Des, and she even attended one of his football game.

When Cease asks how things with her oldest son Genesis went, she explains that he blew up on her while she tried to explain everything to him.

In a green screen interview, Sky says she’s still in shock and she feels like Genesis hates her.

“I just want to hug him.” – Sky

She starts crying and Cease consoles her.

“Time heals everything. One day he’ll come around.” – Cease

“I’m just gonna pray. Thank you, I needed that.” – Sky

Melody makes things official and moves into the RV.

Melody and Lalo have sublet their apartment, and she is now living in the RV with Lalo and their son.

“I will now have zero privacy.” – Melody

Melody doesn’t want to have guests anytime soon because she doesn’t want to tell anyone that she’s living in a RV.

She gets frustrated when she struggles to fix breakfast.

Lalo checks her and says he refuses to argue in front of their son. He also reminds her that she’s the reason they are living in a RV.

Kitty comes by the shop and delivers bad news.

She greets Cease and Sky and tells them that someone stole $10,000 from the shop.

Cease gets upset because he’s just finding this out.

Kitty says she double checked and Sky doesn’t understand why Kitty, the Brand Ambassador, is in charge of the books.

Cease, however, can’t get over the fact that the money is missing.

“This is family stealing from family.” – Cease

Cease asks Sky to go to 113th to find out who took the money.

Sky reminds Cease that she no longer works at 113th and works at the shop in Atlanta. He says he only trusts her to get the job done, so she reluctantly agrees to the task.

Sky heads to 113th.

When they ask how things went with her sons, Sky decides not to share anything. In a green screen interview, she says she’s not emotionally ready to share the details with everyone just yet.

She gets straight to business and secretly starts recording and documenting all the new things the staff has been purchasing, including Donna’s new wig.

She leaves the shop after they get suspicious.

Young Bae hangs out with her boyfriend Rob, he wants to take a big step in their relationship.

She loves that he listens to her and she really enjoys his company.

Rob says his lease will be up soon and he wonders if she would want to move in together.

Bae feels like it’s too soon.

She tells him she’s scared she will end up hurt again. Her last ex cheated on her.

“I’m not him.” – Rob

She tells him she’s not sure about moving in together.

Alex aka The V*gina Slayer throws a party in the shop and infuriates Melody.

Alex aka The V*gina Slayer tells Walt and Donna that he’s not sure how to handle Melody. She’s not a fan of him and he feels like she’s “on some bullsh*t.”

Donna says that she doesn’t think Melody should be the manager because she can never keep her emotions in check.

Walt agrees and does an impersonation of Melody as producers playback scenes of Melody going off in the shop.

Alex invites friends to the shop and they all party.

Donna says she feels this was a really bold move. Walt is impressed.

“I ain’t gonna lie, man. Alex and his folks are kind of lit.” – Walt

Jada, the woman Walt wanted hired to be the shop receptionist, strolls in the party.

Not too long after, Melody comes to the shop and is furious to see people partying.

She’s also not happy to see Jada there.

Melody starts arguing with Donna and Alex.

After Donna grabs Melody and tells her she needs to leave the shop because she’s too angry, Melody pushes her off.

She then starts arguing with Jada (who doesn’t back down) then storms out the shop. The party continues.

The next day, Donna gives everyone a recap on the party and Melody’s meltdown. Teddy says Melody should have chilled out since partying is what the shop is known for.

Melody gets to the shop and refuses to speak to anyone. Not too long after, her client comes in.

After Melody finishes, she asks the client if she likes her tattoo and she doesn’t answer.

Sky comes by and gives Cease an update on her findings. She’s still not sure who stole the money.

Young Bae has a change of heart.

Rob and Bae go out on a date.

He surprises her with a candlelight dinner.

She says she’s touched he did this for her since she’s not ready to live together.

She tells him that she also has trust issues because her father abused her.

“Baby, that’s been my life so I can’t really trust nobody.” -Bae

Rob tells her he understands and he is okay with them not living together. She then changes her mind and agrees to moving in together.

They tell each other they love one another.

Melody’s client returns to the shop with complaints, Melody quits.

Jada comes back to the shop after Donna convinces Teddy to hire her as the shop receptionist. In a green screen interview, Donna says she’s happy the hire will anger Melody.

Sky comes in the shop and tells Jada she has some tough shoes to fill.

She tells them that $10,000 has been taken from the shop.

“At the end of the day, everybody is a culprit.” – Sky

Donna says that she overheard that Melody owes $30,000 in back taxes, so she is probably the one who took the money.

“The f*cking thief is Melody a*s.” – Donna

Melody’s client from the other day returns to the shop and says she needs to talk to Melody because she’s not happy with her tattoo. Alex looks at the tattoo and says it’s trash.

Donna is getting a kick out of this since Melody actually tried to correct one of her tattoos in the past.

Melody walks in the shop and Alex tells her they were looking at her, “weak a*s tattoo” she did for her client.

Melody takes the client in the back to talk about it.

The client says that the lining of the tattoo looks unpolished and Melody says that since she’s healing to come back once the healing is done.

Melody confronts the rest of the shop and Donna says that the tattoo is a mess. This annoys Melody.

Donna asks what’s going on in her personal life that she would mess up a tattoo like that.

“$10,000 is missing out the shop and everybody thinks you did it.” – Donna

Kitty says that no one thinks that Melody is responsible and Melody gets angry and tries to walk out the shop.

She pushes away one of the cameras from the show on her way out.

As Melody is walking out the shop, Cease and Sky see her. They ask her why she’s crying and she tells them she just wants to go home. Cease goes in the shop and Donna says that Melody ruined a client’s tattoo.

She also tells Cease that Donna may have stolen the money because she owes so much money to the IRS.

Melody comes back to the shop and tells them that she is hurt by everything.

“There’s no hope for me here and I f*cking quit.” – Melody

She walks out the shop.

  1. I don’t understand how anyone can be mad at melody for actually wanting the shop to be professional. Donna gets on my nerves.

  2. I think Donna is jealous of her. She seems very insecure. Shes pretty but looks unwashed.
Melody may have money problems but they respect her more than Donna

    1. I think the same! Im watching a rerun of this episode now and I couldnt help but notice how Donna like lives to piss of Melody. Even when it came to hiring the receptionist. Donna was mainly concerned about it pissing Melody off which made it that much more appealing to her. Definitely some jealousy somewhere.
