‘The Quad’ Recap: Ella Turns on Eva + Eva’s Secret is Revealed

Bryce is still upset about being kicked off line.

Bryce has a nightmare about being hazed while stepping on campus. He’s still upset about being dropped from the line.

Eva finds comfort with a man, waking up after sleeping with him.

Eva later meets with her attorney and still argues that she was the victim of police brutality.

She tells her attorney to go after the dashboard camera and to check the background of the officer who handcuffed her .

He wasn’t able to find anything. But he tells Eva to be patient.

Bryce is reading a book in bed.

He gets a visit from his father.

His father says that Bryce told his brother that he doesn’t think he’s a right fit for the fraternity, Sigma Mu Kappa.

“Son this is your legacy. Start behaving accordingly.” – Bryce’s father

He leaves and Cedric then returns to the room.

Bryce tells Cedric that because of his actions, he must figure out how to get back on the line.

Eva asks for help.

Eva goes to a car mechanic shop and asks for a Dave Hill.

When she sees Dave, she tells him she had an incident with Officer Mark Early too, the police officer who assaulted her.

Eva wants Dave’s help to get justice from Metro PD. She asks him to testify. Dave thinks about his son and doesn’t want to risk losing his life over “racist bullsh*t.”

“No way.” – Dave

Eva leaves her attorney’s phone number anyway.

Cedric stands up for Bryce and impresses Miles.

The university holds a career fair on the yard.

Cedric runs into Miles and tells him he wants to talk.

He asks Miles to put Bryce back on the line, threatening to tell Eva about the underground pledging.

However, Miles tells Cedric snitching would hurt a lot of people, including those that benefit from their community service and scholarships.

“But you do what you gotta do.” – Miles

Cecil stops by Eva’s office unannounced.

He tells her that there are police check points everywhere. He was pulled over recently and he’s angry about it. Cecil feels this is a result of her “bad choices.”

Cecil demands Eva calls the mayor’s office to complain about the check points.

“Why don’t you start there, oh powerful one?” – Cecil

He leaves her office in a huff.

Miles has a meeting with other students.

They complain about the check points and wonder what they are going to do to stop it.

Miles, however, calls potential merger of the university a bigger issue.

BoJohn says that merging doesn’t mean the culture of the school can’t be preserved.

This annoys others, who call out his “white privilege.”

Finally, Cedric says that people should just call Eva and voice their concerns.

BoJohn and Junior talk later.

Junior tells BoJohn he was wrong for assaulting the guy at the party. Junior also reminds BoJon to apologize for being cold towards Tiesha.

Cecil stops by to see his friends who happen to be in a band and rehearsing.

He is introduced to the lead singer Jazz.

They invite him to sit in on their next rehearsal.

This annoys the young drummer who feels Cecil needs to do his own thing.

He then starts playing the drums loudly, annoying Cecil.

Eva hangs out with Ella.

Ella tells Eva that she should not have given out her phone number to the students seeing as they keep contacting her about the merger and check points.

Eva changes the topic into Ella and the board blocking her move to sell one of the oldest buildings on the campus.

Ella stands by her decision and changes the topic.

Eva tells her that she wants to keep fighting back against her case against the police. Ella supports her decision.

She then reveals to Ella why her former school fired her, explaining to Ella she cheated on her husband with a grad student. She doesn’t want police to put that information out to the public. Despite Eva being scared, the revelation frustrates Ella, who wonders why she learned this now.

“And you’re really just telling me this now?” – Ella

Eva explains that her marriage was in a really bad place and she was stressed out by her career.

Ella admits that she wouldn’t have signed on to Eva being hired had she known about the affair.

Despite this, Eva feels Ells will still have her back.

Ella gives her the side eye.

BoJohn is jumped.

While out on a food run, The guy BoJohn punched at the party jumps BoJohn with his friends.

He gets beaten badly and left alone on the ground afterwards. During the beating, someone in the crew records it with their cell phone.

He called Tiesha just before the incident occurred, but only got her voicemail. Her voicemail plays in the background.

The next morning, Junior discovers BoJohn’s injuries. He tells Junior that the guy he fought at the party jumped him with some friends.

Junior wants to go find them and get even but BoJohn tells him to let it go.

Cedric meets with Eva.

Eva shows him nasty text messages she’s been getting from students. She blames Cedric for encouraging students to contact her.

Eva still plans to cut the spring event, which annoys Cedric. She wants to cut costs. However, Cedric now think Eva doesn’t care about the school’s culture or traditions.

Junior meets Coach Hardwick in the football weigh room, telling everyone about what happened to BoJack. The news instantly angers the team. Eventhough they want to exact revenge, Coach Hardwick bans them from leaving campus. If they leave, they’d be kicked off the team.

Cecil then shows up to the band’s performance at the club. He speaks to Dean Pettiway.

The Band introduces Cecil as a special guest. Cecil comes on the stage to play the keyboard as the rest of the band performs.

Cecil enjoys himself.

The young drummer tries to show him up and they battle it out on stage.

Cecil hangs with him, surprising the drummer.

Afterwards, he walks up to the drummer and calls him a “little boy” after the drummer calls him an “old man.”

Cecil’s friend tells them both to chill out.

Eva gets a warning.

When Eva is out and about, Officer Early, who arrested Eva, warns her not to take things further. He says he saw that glassy look in her eyes.

Eva then cries out when in her car.

Coach Hardwick goes by BoJohn’s room.

BoJohn’s injuries are extensive, shocking Coach Hardwick.

Coach saw the video of the assault and wants those involved punished.

BoJohn’s father comes by too and hugs BoJohn.

Coach Hardwick explains that he will find BoJohn’s attackers. However, BoJohn’s father doesn’t buy this and says he plans on getting even in his own way.

BoJohn tries to calm him down but he’s not hearing it. He then goes to the hospital with his father.

Cedric seems Miles on campus and apologizes for their previous interaction.

Miles accepts his apology, impressed Cedric’s resolve to help people in need.

Dean Pettiway meets with Ella and says that Eva is a problem.

Ella says that Eva may not be the right person for the job.

“When the time’s right, let’s get rid of her.” – Ella

Later on, Eva stops by Dave’s shop again, telling him Officer Early harassed her again. Despite this, Eva tells him she won’t give up her fight.

“I will fight for the both of us. Have a good day Mr. Hill.” – Eva

Cecil learns the truth.

Cecil’s friend comes by and tells him he enjoyed performing with him like old times, apologizing for the drummer’s behavior.

Cecil brushes it off. He then says the kid reminds him of himself.

His friend says the drummer didn’t have a father in his life and he needs some direction from somebody like Cecil.

Cecil says he has no idea why his friend entertains the drummer all the time. But his friends says it’s because it’s all about giving back.

His friend eventually says the drummer is Cecil’s son.

“How the hell is that possible, man?” – Cecil

His friend kept the secret quiet for years but Cecil needs to know so they can have a relationship.

Cecil is in shock.

As Eva is leaving for home, Dave meets her and tells her that he changed his mind.

“Please put my name on your witness list.” – Dave

She thanks him.

Cecil has a talk with his son.

His son brings up that it’s been 26 years and he’s not trying to hear anything Cecil has to say. He says the man who raised him is his father and he’s dead.

Cecil tells his son to call him afterwards. He still desires to develop a relationship, despite his son’s apprehension.

As Eva watches the news, she learns that Dave also filed a complaint against the police officer.

At this point, the man she’s been spending time with comes to the bedroom. The man hands her Xanax pills before leaving.

Sigma Mu Kappa’s member reveal features a surprise.

As they take off their masks, Cedric and Bryce take off their masks.

  1. That pledging plot was not realistic at all. If you threaten to expose hazing, you will not get down. And it doesn’t take you two days to pledge either. Cedric was on line for like two seconds. Not realistic.
