Watch: Jay-Z Tells David Letterman He’s Proud of the Way Blue Ivy Expresses Herself

Jay-Z is David Letterman’s guest for the latest episode of “My Guest Needs No Introduction.”

During the hour-long episode, Jay-Z touched on his relationship with his children and how he is proud of them. David asked Jay if he feels any gratifying and heart-breaking feelings regarding the lifestyle he created for the three of them.

Jay-Z says he has no ill-will towards the life he’s giving his kids. He is also proud of the way Blue Ivy expresses herself at just six-years old. He tells David of a time when Blue Ivy expressed disappointment of how he told her to get into a car on the way to school.

It was “the most beautiful thing” Blue Ivy ever told him, so far.

I’m not heart-broken at this point in my life. I feel grateful everyday. I wake up, look around, and look at my kids, and they’re healthy.

Me and my daughter talk… I told her the other day to get into the car the other day, because she was asking a thousand questions and we had to leave for school.

I got in the car, and I’m faced this way… I’m just painting a picture of how healthy my children are at this present time.

So we’re driving and I hear her little voice, “Dad.”

I turn around… “I didn’t like when you told me to get in the car the way you told me.”

She’s six… “It hurt my feelings.”

That’s the most beautiful thing you ever said to me.

  1. This is healthy behavior. If everyone black girl understood that it’s okay to voice their feelings a lot of us would be a lot better off in our adult lives.
