Nicki Minaj Airs out Cardi B & Atlantic Records

Before Nicki’s two new singles were released, she sat down and had an interview with Beats 1.

She discussed a range of topics with Zane Lowe.

Nicki revealed that she didn’t like the narrative surrounding the fact that she didn’t film the music video to “MotorSport” on the same day as Cardi B.

Some blogs claimed it was because Nicki was jealous and didn’t want to interact with the “Bodak Yellow” rapper.

Then of course there was an issue after Cardi said in interviews that Nicki changed her verse.

After she made the comments, many blog sites and major publications began to say Nicki changed her verse because Cardi’s verse had her shook.

According to Nicki, none of these theories are true.

She claims she wasn’t able to film the “MotorSport” music video on the same day as Cardi because she had a scheduling issues with her hair stylist, who also happens to be Cardi’s hair stylist now.

While she did confirm that she changed up the verse, she claimed it was not for reasons her critics speculated.

So when the original verse was leaked on Twitter hours ago, more controversy ensued.

In the original verse, she rapped:

If Cardi the QB, I’m Nick Lombardi

In the version that became the final cut, Nicki rapped:

If Quavo the QB, I’m Nick Lombardi

Some feel the lyric was a jab at Cardi, and apparently Cardi may be one of those people.

After the original verse leaked, Nicki tweeted the following:

Interestingly enough, there’s been a lot of stuff going on in the media that has Nicki convinced Atlantic Records is trying to take her down.

Female rapper Lady Leshurr turned down a deal with Atlantic allegedly after she was informed she would have to target Nicki.

  1. Sounds like Cardi heard the verse, was already feeling insecure, so she requested her name was taken out. She already knows she’s not as good as a rapper as Nicki. Even though Nicki removed her name, Cardi was still salty about it and brought it up in an interview even though she didn’t tell the whole story. People hopped on the whole Nicki changed her verse story and started slandering Nicki. Cardi doesn’t care because she’s still in her feelings because she felt Nicki was trying to sub her. But then Cardi turns right around and subs Nicki on her songs. And meanwhile Atlantic Records which is probably dominated by male executives, and Migos sit back and keep pitting these women against each other.

  2. It doesn’t matter. Cardi is not even Atlantic’s longterm focus. They are using her to get ready to launch their real cash cow and it will be a white female rapper. They learned from Iggy. White washing has to be gradual. They will throw Cardi under a bus when she’s served her purpose. Nicki should put out two more albums and retire. Black artists as a whole will be shut out in the next ten years.

  3. The only people who care about this “beef” are black people. White people are sitting back and enjoying the music. I wish black people would stop the crabs in a barrel stuff. They are both winning. They can shade each other, be besties, whatever, doesn’t matter because they are winning at the same time.

  4. Nicki’s songs are doing great already. I know she wants to stand up for herself but it’s really not worth it. The best revenge is doing well. The people who don’t like her aren’t going to change their minds about her ever. So she should focus on her music and the fans. She should have just did an interview about the music. All the other stuff is just noise.

  5. In about a few years or so, people are going to regret hopping on this Cardi bandwagon. Then they will fix their lips to say where are the black female rappers?!!!! Weirdos.

  6. I don’t know why Atlantic is doing this. Do they not get that we can like Cardi and Nicki at the same time along with Dreezy, Kashdoll, Azealia, etc? This is ridiculous.

  7. Nicki has been quiet for too long. She understands that she can’t change her haters opinions, so she’s defending herself so Atlantic doesn’t keep getting away with this.

  8. I don’t see how that line could have been shade. Nicki was basically saying Cardi is the QB (star) and she’s the veteran and coach and they are on the same team. Once she changed the verse, that should have been enough. There was no need for to even come out that it was changed. And Quavo is messy for not clearing things up when Nicki asked him to.
