Kandi Burruss spin off show disappoints in ratings? It seems like all, well most of, the cast members of Real Housewives of Atlanta are getting their chance at spin-off shows. Talk suggested earlier on that the re-engaged NeNe Leakes was about to get her own spin-off show, along with Kandi Burruss and Phaedra Parks. NeNe happily announced her show I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding in the midst of clapping back at one of her half-sisters’ threat to expose her,  NeNe and her half sister now locked into a Twitter beef with each other. As for Kandi, her spin-off show has kicked off and it’s one that is centered around music. Though Kandi got her shot at a show of her own, things started off on the wrong foot from the pilot episode of The Kandi Factory when winning contestant Matthew Solomon  blasted Kandi for supposedly making false promises to him about what his prize would be.

The Kandi Factory contestant isn’t the only one who isn’t feeling Kandi at the moment as her and Kim Zolciak are still at it over baby names and the lawsuit that Kandi slapped Kim with over the ‘Tardy for the Party’ song that gave Kim her shot at a singing career, Kim feeling that the whole thing is for publicity purposes only. While Kandi and Kim are battling over song royalties, both of their shows air on Tuesday nights, Kim’s spin-off Don’t Be Tardy back for a second season. And so far, Kim is the one who is coming out on top with the ratings.

According to Bravo Ratings, this past Tuesday, April 16th, Kim Zolciak’s show is steadily bringing in the numbers. Kim’s first episode of Don’t Be Tardy attracted 1,157,000 with 695,000 of the viewers being between ages 18 to 49 years. And she saw an increase in viewership with the second episode at 1,259,000 viewers, keeping the numbers pretty steady.

The ratings for Kandi’s show  however are on the disappointing side as The Kandi Factory opened with 671,000 viewers and saw only a 1,000 viewer increase with the second episode.

Though Kandi Burruss and  all of her Real Housewives of Atlanta cast mates will be back for season 6 of the show, Kandi continues to branch out with shows of her own. With one that is centered around her musical roots, Kandi’s new competition show The Kandi Factory premiered this past Tuesday night. And already, one of the show’s contestant’s is not happy with Kandi and the show’s producers and is being very vocal about the broken promises that he says they made to him. Around the same time that Kim Zolciak’s rep shaded Kandi’s music career, 19-year-old college student Matthew Solomon, who was the contestant that won on the pilot episode of the show, took to his Twitter account to call Kandi out for not holding up her end of the deal when it came to what he would be getting for winning and even sided with Kim Zolciak over the lawsuit that Kandi hit Kim with over ‘Tardy For The Party’.

Matthew tweeted:

“Haven’t heard from Kandi since the show. Sorry you can’t download my song. Wow Kandi, I got you a new season and u lied about what u promised. Using Kim for press.”

Matthew Solomon’s good friend Jamie Rose had a few words to say about the situation with the show and gave RumorFix their take on the situation between Matthew and Kandi, saying that Matthew was very distraught over Kandi not following through with what she promised him:

“Kandi really messed Matthew up emotionally. She promised him all kind of things like fame and that he was going to go far and make an album, and would even be opening for people like Nicki Minaj. Kandi promised him all this fame which he never got.”

And Jamie goes on to say that the show was not being very supportive of Matthew and did not offer him any royalties for the song that he made:

“The show was not supportive of Matthew, and didn’t give him royalties he made from the song.”

The friend went on to say that Matthew felt like he was “brainwashed” and that Kandi and the producers of the show told Matthew that they were going to do all that they could to make him famous and that he was going to go far. They also added that Matthew had formed a very good relationship with Kandi and that she told him that he could look to her for anything that he needed help with.

Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss’ claim to fame was her time in R&B girl group Xscape. However, the relationships between the members of the group went sour eventually, and the group decided to go its separate ways despite the success they had in the music business. Kandi has moved on to bigger and better, so it’s no shocker that she wasn’t up for reuniting with the group for a performance at the recent So So Def Anniversary concert. Although rapper Bow Wow slammed Kandi for not coming through for Jermaine Dupri, Kandi says getting back together with the group was something she didn’t want to do because a former member attempted to smear her reputation out of jealousy of her new success without the group.

Many suspected the former member who was talking greasy about Kandi and claiming she slept her way to the top is LaTocha Scott, but Kandi admits in a recent interview with Sway in the Morning that it was actually Tamika Scott. After once again explaining why she didn’t do the concert, Kandi explains her beef with Tamika:

“Let me just say – because I shouldn’t have to bring up stuff…Our group broke up like 18 years ago, But what Im pissed off about happened more recent. In the past, Tocha and I used to bump heads, but she’s not really who I’m really bothered by. It was Tamika that really pissed me off. She said some things about me. Some of the things she put out there, were straight up lies that she made up. I was so pissed at her because me and her used to be really tight and I just felt like what just what she did-to try to make me look bad to people. Instead of just saying ‘Kandi doing well,’ you gon’ make it seem like I screwed my way to top. And then add more people to the list that never existed, on my list. I’m like ‘No chick, don’t do me like that.’ I never do her like that. You know what I mean?”

Check out the clip below:

Kandi’s press rounds continued as she dropped by The Breakfast Club this morning, and on the show, she talked about the “beef” she has with NeNe. Kandi claims she feels NeNe likes to play the victim a little too much and doesn’t understand why she can’t say something positive about her all of her successful business ventures when she’s applauded her acting success:

“To me I feel like she contradicts herself. Like she’s constantly dogging me out, saying negative things about me. But then when she does, she says ‘Well that’s just my opinion.’ But if I say anything to her or about her it, ‘Oh people are jealous of her.’ You know, act like a victim. You know I give you what you give me. Like if you give me that energy, that’s what you’re going to get.

“I’ve done a million things [business wise], she’s never once said ‘Congratulations.’ Or came in support of anything that I’ve done. Nothing. You know I hate when people say, ‘Oh you hating on her!’ How am I hating on her? I always say I love what she’s doing as far as taking her opportunity of being on TV and turning it into something greater.”

If you watched part one of the Real Housewives of Atlanta Reunion last night, than you already know last night was full of shade and facial expressions that said plenty about how the housewives feel about each other these days. Season five in itself has been nothing but drama, and since the sparks keep flying between Kenya Moore and Phaedra Parks, people pretty much expected both to take their beef past the sales of their fitness DVDs. But a smaller beef went down last night, and that’s the ongoing one that’s been lingering on between NeNe Leakes and Kandi Burruss. As we reported recently, Kandi says things got really sour between her and NeNe once she got wind of some comments NeNe made about her relationship with deceased fiancé A.J. Jewell, but when Kandi confronted NeNe about the comments, NeNe admitted she made the remarks and was standing by them.

However, NeNe seems to think Kandi’s real beef with her stems from jealousy, seeing as NeNe is a real actress now on two television shows, and has established quite the brand from her time on Real Housewives of Atlanta.

The other night, both ladies showed off their gorgeous engagement rings, but NeNe’s supporters feel Kandi was jealous NeNe’s ring had more bling, and said her facial expression while NeNe showed off the ring was pretty clear that’s she “hating.” NeNe of course agrees with her supporters, and made that clear on her Twitter account last night. The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 5 reunion show is on its way. And bits and pieces of the three-part reunion show are starting to make their way to the web. One of the clips in particular involves Kandi Burruss and NeNe Leakes. Before the season 5 of RHOA started, things were said to have gotten physical between NeNe and Kandi on the set of the show. Both denied that a fight ever went down between them yet we have seen Kandi and NeNe verbally get into in a time or two in the past. Though it was clear that Kim was the one that Kandi couldn’t seem to get along with this season, that doesn’t mean that all was well with her and NeNe. NeNe has plainly said before that she thinks Kandi is jealous of her and her success, a thought of NeNe’s that Kandi finds to be hilarious one. As NeNe just patched things up with Kim Zolciak, there are still come unfinished issues lingering between her and Kandi. In a sneak peek clip of the reunion show, Host Andy Cohen tries to get to the bottom of things as far as Kandi and NeNe’s relationship is concerned. And he starts off with asking a fan question to Kandi in reference to NeNe says that Kandi throws shade at her on the regular. And Kandi responds by saying:

“Yeah, sometimes there’s shade thrown. But I feel like she always throws shade at me. So I don’t feel like it’s anything more than what she’s done to me.”

And you best believe NeNe wasn’t going to keep quiet on that one:

“Well I really don’t think that I talk negative about you Kandi. I think that I speak my opinion. And you may take it as negativity but it’s simply my opinion.”

Andy then asked about the tweets that NeNe sent out where she talked about a nameless housewife that always is asking about food but doesn’t need anything to eat. And she made not attempt to hide the fact that she was talking about Kandi:

“Now we all know that’s Kandi. She was asking for food when I tweeted that.”

And Kandi says she doesn’t get why NeNe can crack jokes on and say things about people but gets mad when the favor is returned:

“See but that’s what I’m saying. It’s like okay, you can say that about me and yeah we can laugh about  it. But if I say something about you NeNe, and it’s like ‘Ahh! she just…’  You know what I mean?”

NeNe claims though that she never hits Kandi below the belt with her comments:

“No, we can definitely laugh about it. I’m just saying, we just talked about it. You know, I feel like if you can dish it out, just be able to take it. And you know, as long as I’m not trying to cut you to the white meat and you know, hit you below the belt, then we cool.”

Kandi had to stop her there though as she says that NeNe said some offensive things about her deceased fiance’ A.J.:

“I think that you have done that before…One time when you were on the radio in the past, you said something about my relationship with A.J. and it was about whatever. And I felt like ‘Whoa, okay.’ That was not cool for you to say. So that’s when I felt like ‘You know what, I don’t mess with her like that.’ And that’s when you got a different me.”

Oh this reunion special is going to be a good one.

With the Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion show coming up for the season five cast, the news of Kordell and Porsha Stewart’s divorce is fresh on everyone’s minds. While Porsha’s camp says she wanted to file first and was blindsided by Kordell’s filing, it appears her own costars aren’t really all that shocked that it came down to this. Porsha made it seem like she was happy to be the traditional housewife with no career of her own, but now it appears she’s realized that she does want a career and a singing career at that. She’s already been in the studio and according to Kordell’s pals, he just wasn’t thrilled that Porsha wanted a career shortly after her cast mates started voicing their opinions and suggested she needed to be more independent. Kandi Burruss agreed that Porsha’s submissiveness wasn’t her cup of tea, but in a recent interview, she admitted the signs of Porsha and Kordell’s demise were clear.

Kandi tells Coco Fab that she Porsha actually admitted rather emotionally at the reunion show that she and Kordell were having problems:

“I was very sad. I reached out to her. I didn’t talk to her, but we spoke on text. I was really just hurting for her. I hate the whole thing that when people get on reality TV sometimes that can breakdown a relationship. I hate that for her. She really, really, really wanted her marriage to work.

“You’ll see that on the reunion. That’s going to come up. She really talks emotionally about how she’s really working to work for her marriage. So that was sad for me to hear.”

Kandi says she wasn’t shocked by the filing, especially because of a lot of the cryptic things Kordell was posting on Instagram:

“I was shocked that he filed in that way. I noticed little things that he posted on Instagram — because we all follow each other — and I was like ‘what does that mean?!’ It was certain things that he had posted that made me think ‘I don’t know about that! Do we say that when we’re happy?!?’”

Kandi also revealed she feels the split might actually be a blessing for Porsha:

“First of all, I always want to say I can’t give anyone advice about their marriage. But as far as going through something, it can’t rain forever. The sun IS going to shine again. Sometimes we feel like everything is just so bad. And stuff keeps happening. But even when you’re going through a rainy season, you’ll still going to get a day of sunlight. For her, she’s beautiful, she’s young she doesn’t have any children. She was upset to go through those things, but … maybe this has put her in a spotlight to be in a better place and put the shine on her. Whereas she was being the happy help mate to someone else, maybe it’s is her time to shine. God makes things happen. You never know.”

In related news, it’s being reported that Porsha Stewart has hired NeNe Leakes’ former divorce attorney.

Kandi Burruss is engaged to be married to Todd Tucker, and although she has a lawsuit in the works against Kim Zolciak; the reality star and business woman has bigger things to worry about these days. Although Kandi won’t reveal the date of her big day, she did say she is in the middle of planning things. One thing Kandi is set on now is getting a pre-nup. She has been pretty vocal in why she believes in pre-nups, but Kandi says in her recent interview with Upscale Magazine that she thinks pre-nups should be mandatory for all couples, wealthy or not. Kandi covers the April issue of the publication, and talks marriage and Todd Tucker.

On her relationship with Todd, Kandi says:

“The cool thing about Todd and I is that he’s very smart, intelligent. We have so many ideas that we’re planning to make happen together. We’re workaholics. That’s something we’ve been talking about lately, trying to find more ‘us’ time.”

And when it comes to pre-nups, Kandi makes it clear that she feels pre-nups should be a standard for every couple thinking about marriage:

“I don’t see why it’s such a huge topic of conversation. Pre-nups should be standard. Those things should be put in place when everyone is thinking clear-minded. Why would you wait until y’all fall out? People do things to hurt the other when they’re hurt. If I was a man and made that [comment about pre-nups] I don’t think people would’ve even cared, probably.”

Kenya Moore and Walter Jackson may be over, but their drama is still lingering on and off the camera. At the beginning of the season, Kenya and a very uninterested Walter appeared to be dating, but Walter would shake things up after he told a radio station in Atlanta that he and Kenya were just faking their romance for the cameras. Kenya clapped back and claimed Walter was lying and just looking for fame, however, even Kenya’s cast mates have expressed they feel Walter is telling the truth. Walter wanted to bring “proof” that the romance was staged to the reunion show, but Bravo decided against inviting him and he took to Twitter to blast the network for not giving him a change to “expose” Kenya. But Walter appears to still be a factor for some reason on the show, and Kenya wasn’t too happy to see Walter at Kandi’s shindig on the last episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta.

To no surprise, Kandi Burruss and Phaedra Parks think Kenya was being a little overdramatic about the whole situation and in their recent Bravo blogs they even claimed they actually knew Walter way before they knew Kenya. So since they were already friends with him, they feel they should be able to invite him to events without Kenya having an issue. They also say they aren’t buying Kenya’s whole gay talk about Walter and question if she’s making more out of things to create drama for the cameras.

Kandi writes:

“Well, let me go back to my friend Greg Wynn who owns CTC construction with one of my best friends, his wife Tan. Greg is also Walter’s friend. Some people asked why I would invite Walter. Honestly I didn’t know if Todd invited Walter, if he came with Greg and Tan, or whatever, but it really didn’t matter. Kenya and I are cool, and I don’t want to make her uncomfortable, but I’ve known Walter longer. Because of our connection through our mutual friends, Todd and I have hung out with Walter multiple times even after his breakup or whatever went on between him and Kenya. So I prefer to stay out of the middle of the Walter/Kenya drama. I’m not going to exclude him from an event just because of her, and I wouldn’t exclude her because of him.

“It wasn’t the first time he was at the same event she attended. She seemed just fine at Peter’s event, so I didn’t expect for her to flip out the way she did at my house warming. I do not agree with Kenya about Walter. I don’t think he’s a stalker, and I don’t think he’s gay. I think whatever they had ended badly, but they just need to let it go and move on.”

Phaedra wasn’t as nice as Kandi was about the situation and basically echoed Porsha Stewart’s views on Kenya and claimed she likes to play the victim a little too much:

“Some of us always have to play the victim in order to be the center of attention. In this week’s episode we see that in epic fashion with our resident twirler Kenya. As always, she assumes that every event is about her. This week is no different.

“Atlanta is a major metropolitan city; however, as in any town or city, there are small social circles. It isn’t unusual to see many of the same faces at every event you attend. While I’ve known Kenya for approximately six months, I’ve known her alleged ex-beau Walter Jackson for well over a decade. He has been a fixture in Atlanta’s social scene since I met him. Since he and my husband met, they have enjoyed a blossoming friendship. When he and my husband spoke as we were en route to Kandi’s party, there was no reason to call anyone to alert them that he was coming as he was their invited guest. Please know that Apollo and I would never invite anyone to someone else’s home as that is socially tacky and uncouth. It’s very egocentric to expect someone to adjust their guest list according to your preferences. Kandi’s estate is large enough that everyone at the party could’ve played hide and seek and never been found, so why did Kenya assume he came with a date to find her? It was obvious he didn’t want her when they were allegedly together, so why would he want her now?”

The Kandi Burruss Kim Zolciak feud is still on and popping. Kandi and Kim’s relationship hadn’t been quite right ever since Kim made her comments about Kandi’s new house. And their beef continued after Kandi accused Kim of stealing her baby name. Kandi and Kim’s feud has now gotten legal as Kandi hit Kim with a lawsuit over the single ‘Tardy for the Party’. Kandi explained why she was suing Kim while Kim called BS on the whole thing, saying that it is all just a publicity stunt that Kandi is trying to pull. Kandi has shared her side and now Kim’s camp is coming forward in her defense and says that there are a few things you should know about this lawsuit of Kandi’s.

In a released statement, Kim’s rep Mike Paul says that the lawsuit that Kandi is filing against Kim is “without merit”. And as far as how Kandi handled things when it came to the song, Paul says Kandi was ‘messy’ with it and questions why Kandi waited so long to pull something like this on Kim. Mike Paul also says that the all the facts should be known and he credits Kim and her daughter for being the original creators of the song before Kandi even became apart of the show. Kim’s rep also thinks that the timing of Kandi’s lawsuit seemed very suspicious as Kandi is said to be attempting to launch her own spinoff.

Here’s the statement that was released by Kim’s rep Mike Paul:

The lawsuit led by Kandi Burruss and Rodney Richard aka Don Vito against Kim Zolciak-Biermann over the song “Tardy For The Party” is without merit and suspicious in its timing. We also find the handling of the lawsuit by another cast member on the show, and the timing of Kandi’s attempt to launch her own spinoff reality show, raises serious questions about the true motives behind the filing this lawsuit for alleged record royalties due from a song that was released over three and a half years ago.

The song was created by four people who share in the royalties: Kim, her daughter (who co-wrote the original song in season one of the RHOA show before Kandi joined the show in season two) Kandi and Don Vito.  To date, Kim has written checks to Kandi and Don Vito in excess of $23,000. In fact, we believe that Kim may have overpaid a portion of their share to date based on the actual record sales.

It is clear to us the lawsuit was brought solely for the purpose of publicity because the facts are not in Kandi’s favor. Kandi Burruss and her legal team are well aware of the truth regarding the song and the payments Kandi and Don Vito received from Kim.  That is a clear fact.

But we find the greatest truth in the fact that Kandi Burruss has been in the music business for many years and it appears she has made many mistakes in dealing with the song. We assume this has been a major lesson for Kandi. Maybe focusing on her next 15 minutes of fame should not have been the priority for Kandi versus three and a half years after the song was released, Kandi realizing she handled all aspects of the song in a very sloppy and messy way. We understand it is not the first time either.  As Kandi is also a music industry veteran, it is also a shame.

Kim Zolciak isn’t the only one that has something to say about Kandi Burruss as the winner from season one of Kandi’s competition show The Kandy Factory Matthew Solomon put her on blast for not holding up her end of the deal for him winning on the show, which included him receiving a song written by Kandi and having a music video produced by Kandi’s team, in tweets obtained by Rhymes with Snitch:

“Haven’t heard from Kandi since the show. Sorry you can’t download my song. Wow Kandi, I got you a new season and u lied about what u promised. Using Kim for press.”

Season five of Real Housewives of Atlanta has been full of drama, beefs, and ridiculous antics thanks to new cast member Kenya Moore; but there’s been some positive moments to come from the season as well. And for Kandi Burruss and NeNe Leakes, it looks like they have plenty to look forward to in their personal lives as both are engaged to be married. Kandi is engaged to her beau Todd Tucker, and NeNe is engaged to her ex husband Gregg Leakes. NeNe admits that she and Gregg needed to divorce in order for things to be put into perspective, especially since she feels Gregg had a hard time adjusting to her new success as an actress. But things are much better for the couple now, and after his recent very romantic proposal, it’s clear that he’s ready to prove himself to NeNe and be a better husband this time around.

In a recent interview with E! Online, NeNe decided to show off her engagement ring and dished about her upcoming wedding plans. She also mentioned that her ring is 15 carats, and Gregg said he wanted her to have a carat for every year they’ve had together (17 years), but could only get 15. She also says that she and Gregg are hoping to remarry in June, but that all depends on if they are able to book a venue or not in time.

NeNe says:

“I’ve been with Greg since 1996. We were married for 15 years and divorced for a year and a half and now we’re getting back together. You have to learn to work together as a team and communicate. Communication is definitely the key.”

E! News also caught up with Kandi Burruss, and Kandi says that she and Todd have already decided on a date for their big day. However, she’s keeping that information to herself, and it’s rumored that she has to be mum because it could all play out on TV.

Kandi Burruss and Kim Zolciak used to be friends. Unfortunately for the reality stars of Real Housewives of Atlanta, a song would ruin a friendship  and be the cause of a lawsuit. As we recently reported, Kandi is suing Kim because she claims she didn’t receive her proper cut for writing Kim’s single “Tardy for the Party.” She’s also decided to have fellow Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks represent her in the suit. Kim, however, thinks the lawsuit is nothing more than a publicity stunt, and claimed on her Twitter account that Kandi was paid for writing the song.

Kandi recently chatted it up with Hip Hollywood, and she explained why she decided to file a suit against Kim. She even admitted that she didn’t want to file a lawsuit, however, she feels she really didn’t have any other option in handling the matter.

She says:

“It’s time for the whole ordeal to be over. I asked TuneCore to take the song down in December 2012. They did. Kim sent an affidavit to put it back up, which they did. TuneCore then informed me that in order for the song to be taken down permanently I would need to file suit to have it removed. I never wanted to go that route but after being told that it is the only way to get the song removed, I had no other choice.”

Kim told TooFab that she has documents to prove that Kandi was actually “overpaid.” She says:

“This is nothing short of a publicity stunt, I find this lawsuit funny yet sad. Coming after me now and this song is 4 years old? I have in fact overpaid Kandi and have documents to prove it and my legal team will handle this accordingly.”

Interestingly enough, Kim’s daughter Brielle claims she was the original songwriter for the song, but Kandi claims the song was such a “joke” when she got it, she had to rewrite the entire thing. Brielle wasn’t so happy about that, either (read the tweets from top to bottom):

Kandi Burruss suing Kim Zolciak over “Tardy for the Party?” The Kandi Burruss Kim Zolciak beef is far from over. Kandi and Kim explained the beef that they had with each other before, the beef being centered around the baby name Kash that Kandi claims Kim jacked from her, Kim claiming otherwise. And even with Kim no longer appearing in the remaining episodes of the show this season after making an early departure, that didn’t mean that things were all well and good between her and Kandi as the baby name situation was brought up again, Kandi still making it known that she still feels some type of way about Kim supposedly stealing her baby name. Turns out though that there is another form of “Kash” that Kandi is coming after Kim for as she is suing Kim Zolciak over her hit single “Tardy for the Party,” Kandi filing the suit over Kim not properly compensating her for the work she did on the song.

The lawsuit was filed on Tuesday in the US District Court of the Northern District of Georgia. Both Kandi and co-writer Rodney Richards are seeking “damages for copyright infringement due to Defendants’ unauthorized and unlawful licensing, distribution and sale of Plaintiffs’ creative works, namely a sound recording embodying a performance of a musical composition entitled “Tardy for the Party.”

Even though “Tardy for the Party” dropped awhile ago, Kandi Burruss is still looking for what she thinks is her rightful cut from Kim and has taken legal action against her. However, other reports are claiming Kandi didn’t secure an agreement over royalties, and the rights to the song were given to Bravo.

Kim Zolciak on the other hand, thinks Kandi is doing this all for one thing and one thing only: Publicity. And Kim credits her daughter Brielle as the original songwriter, not Kandi:
