R&B singer Miguel is finally getting much deserved attention for his talent and knack for making good music. After feeling overlooked for quite some time, despite the great music he did deliver from his debut studio album, he now has a Grammy and he’s getting recognition and working with big artists he’s always looked up to. However, the singer now finds himself getting the kind of attention he probably hadn’t hoped for. The other night at the Billboard Music Awards, Miguel made a pretty big mistake that has made him the favorite target of memes everywhere and it’s probably something people will just never forget happened. While performing his hit sing;e “Adorn,” he attempted to jump to the other part of the stage and in the process, he landed on top of a female fan’s head.

The incident looked like a professional wresting move created by wresting legend Hulk Hogan, and the “leg drop” is something Hogan takes plenty of pride in. When Hogan got word of Miguel’s “move” he pulled the other night at the Billboard Music Awards, he took to his Twitter account to give the R&B singer props for at least getting his signature move right even though he did end up embarrassing himself. Hulk Hogan tweets:

Interestingly enough, Miguel seems to be taking everything in stride and is fully aware that he can be pretty clumsy when he gets on the stage. However, he blames his “awkwardness” on just being too caught up in the moment at times.

Miguel is without a doubt one of the biggest acts in R&B right now, and he seems to have a knack for cranking out hits solo and even now with other artists. However, Miguel isn’t as smooth as he appears in his music videos and as quiet as it was kept, he’s one of the clumsiest performers that has ever hit the stage. In fact, as much as he enjoys dancing and giving his fans an amazing show, it’s not unheard of for him to  fall off the stage in the middle of a dance routine. It’s so common for Miguel to fall off the stage in the middle of his performances that he claims he no longer gets embarrassed by it. He credits himself as just being incredibly awkward and clumsy and his performance last night at the Billboard Music Awards didn’t disappoint when it comes to mistakes.

Last night, Miguel really got into his performance while singing his smash hit “Adorn,” he then decided he was going to jump to the other side of the stage, but in the process, he performed Hulk Hogan’s signature “leg drop” move on one of his female fans who just happened be standing on the first row. In case you missed it:

Miguel was a gentleman and he did reportedly apologize to the fan. Some say he even later invited her backstage. But he did tweet about it too (read from bottom to top):

We guess Omarion thought this was the perfect time to throw some shade because he definitely took a couple of jabs at Miguel after the infamous “leg drop” went down. Of course, once he started to get dragged in his mentions, he quickly suggested it’s “all love.” He tweets (read from bottom to top):

omarion twitter 2

While we have nothing but love for Omarion, we find it pretty hypocritical for him to try to throw shade at Miguel after this infamous performance at the BET Awards in 2012 that quickly got his Twitter mentions demolished and made him the subject of many memes for a couple of weeks:

Just saying.

Mariah Carey’s stint on American Idol has been nothing but drama, but the songbird might have reached her breaking point with the feud that is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Last week during a live show, Mariah threw shade to Nicki Minaj that resulted in the female rapper dragging her and accusing her of being old and bitter via her Twitter account. Although rumors suggest both women are questionable for next season, a new report from FOX suggests Mariah is thinking about just walking away from the show all together:

According to a source close to “American Idol,” Carey is so done with her fellow judge’s threats and nastiness she last week threatened not to come to the show this week, despite the show being down to its top three finalists.

“Mariah doesn’t want to come back, Nicki is really disrespecting her and she’s tired of trying to bite her tongue all the time,” an insider told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column. “One night Nicki tried to be kind of nice, but Mariah didn’t bite, so I guess she figured screw that.”

…But we’re told even if Minaj doesn’t return to the panel next season, Carey won’t be back.

“She’s done with it all. She doesn’t need the platform, and all the drama isn’t healthy for her,” added the source. “She’s also under fire with the producers for not being critical enough of the contestants.”

In related and more positive news for Mariah, she released a new single called “Beautiful” which features R&B’s new sensation Miguel. We’re in love with it already, but check it out and let us know what you think below:

When it comes to artists in the entertainment industry who can put together a hot track in the studio and be business savvy at all times, Jay-Z most definitely fits that description to a tee. After becoming part owner of pro basketball team the Brooklyn Nets and now getting his shot at becoming a certified baseball agent, a process that is in the works as we speak, Jay-Z has kept his business hat on extra tight with the launching of his new sports company Roc Nation Sports. Along with his attempt to tackle the sports industry, Jay is on a quest to start up a baby product line with his wife Beyonce under their daughter’s full name. Jay-Z has gotten his props over and over again from many of his peers and fans alike, with the exception of a few heated folks in the baseball industry, for trying to take things beyond the musical level. And his wife Beyonce herself is one who seems to take no days off as the superstar singer just started her highly anticipated world tour, is doing summer campaign ads with H&M and is getting ready to drop another studio album to her fans’ delight.

Jay-Z and Beyonce were named the highest paid celebrity couple of last year and now both Jay-Z and Beyonce have secured themselves a spot on the TIME‘s ’100 Most Influential People in the World’ list for 2013, Jay-Z landing on the front cover of the issue and falling in the “Titans” category. For each person on the list, a celebrity writer was chosen to write about each of them. And New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg took on the job of sharing his thoughts on Jay-Z which was most fitting as Jay hails from NY.

Mayor Bloomberg writes on Jay-Z:

“[Jay-Z's] an artist-entrepreneur who stands at the center of culture and commerce in 21st century America, and his influence stretches across races, religions and regions. He’s never forgotten his roots — “Empire State of Mind” was a love song to our city — and as a co-owner of the NBA Nets, he helped bring a major league sports team back to Brooklyn, not far from his old neighborhood. In nearly everything he’s tried, he’s found success. (He even put a ring on Beyoncé.) And in doing so, he’s proved that the American Dream is alive and well.”

On Beyonce, who falls under the “Icons” category, Director Baz Luhrmann writes:

“She and Jay Z are the royal couple of culture, and she is the queen bee. She’s gone beyond being a popular singer, even beyond being a pop-cultural icon. When Beyoncé does an album, when Beyoncé sings a song, when Beyoncé does anything, it’s an event, and it’s broadly influential. Right now, she is the heir-apparent diva of the USA — the reigning national voice.”

First Lady Michelle Obama joins Beyonce in the “Icons” category. Dr. Maya Angelou writes on Mrs. Obama:

“She considers all children her responsibility: black or white, pretty or plain, all the children. The philosophers tell us that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Mrs. Obama is as if it doesn’t touch her. She hasn’t tried to become anybody else’s idea of the First Lady. She has remained herself, with her grace, her gentleness and her sense of humor. That she would dare to wear clothes off the rack. Or go out and garden. Or have a grandmother in the White House. She knows how to be a public creature without being separate from her family.”

As for her husband, President Barack Obama, he made the list under the “Leaders” category. And Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton writes of him:

“Today, they see a leader who delivers — whether it’s ending the war in Iraq, imposing crippling sanctions on Iran or reasserting our role as a Pacific power and building a world with more partners and fewer enemies. At home, the economy is growing, unemployment is falling, and home prices are rising. Now, President Obama is working to create broader prosperity at home and become more competitive abroad by investing in our people, modernizing our infrastructure, building a new energy future and managing our long-term fiscal challenges. That’s the course for a better future.”

Other musicians that made the list were Frank Ocean and Miguel who both have had a great year in music so far, Frank Ocean and Miguel both being listed in the “Artists” category.

Critic Douglas Wolk writes of Miguel:

“The survival of the black pop tradition isn’t just a matter of preserving its history — although Miguel does that too: the soul seducer’s Grammy-winning hit single “Adorn” ingeniously evokes Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” and “Let’s Get It On”. What has nourished that tradition over the past 70 years, though — what has kept it not just alive but thriving — is what makes Miguel’s recent music so special: constant innovation, formal daring, unexpected sources of inspiration, and emotional directness.”

R&B singer John Legend writes of Frank Ocean:

“How fitting that he released his “declaration” on Independence Day. I think Frank’s career will be defined by his fearlessness and his artistic freedom. He has the talent, the ability and the brilliance to have an impact for a long time. He will follow his muse wherever it goes — he’s not the kind of artist to adhere to everyone else’s schedule. That’s what makes him special.”

Kendrick Lamar and Miguel may be considered newbies in the music industry but the success that they have had so far screams otherwise. Miguel has been praised as one of the artist who has been able to revive R&B as the genre continues to lose its appeal to the masses and he has even managed to steal the spotlight from Alicia Keys with his performances as he is currently on tour with her. Along with putting out a chart topping debut album, Kendrick Lamar landed himself at the top of MTV’s ‘Hottest MCs’ list this year and didn’t shy away from the chance to break down barriers when it comes to the mentality in the rap game over casting women in music videos. Kendrick and Miguel teamed up for the remix of Miguel’s song ‘How Many Drinks’ and landed on a magazine cover together. Covering the 2013 ‘Big List’ issue of Vibe Magazine, Kendrick Lamar and Miguel both talked about their music careers and the things that had the potential of impacting them. Although Kendrick Lamar’s debut album ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city’ was a solid one and is still getting talked about well after its release, Kendrick says the album was a big risk for him:

“Making good kid, m.A.A.d city was a risk in itself. The idea of a concept record has been lost for a long time—will that translate to 16-year-old kids in high school rather than the super energetic joint on the radio? I definitely had that in the back of my mind when I was creating this album. But having that thought process gave me confidence in knowing that ain’t nothin’ new under the sun. By me doing this, it can be fresh and something new to the kids that are not used to a record that has skits intertwined within the songs and a whole album breakdown. Overall, what I talk about in my music is another huge risk. When you think of the West Coast, you immediately think of crazy-type street credibility. To come from that place but not glorify it is a challenge in itself.”

As for Miguel, the singer was asked about R&B singer Frank Ocean going public with his sexuality and whether or not Frank doing that eclipsed his [Miguel] career. And Miguel says:

“I don’t know if the word is eclipsed. [Long pause] That’s a really tough question to answer, man. In all reality, Frank Ocean took a big chance the way that artists are supposed to. I mean, even his album doesn’t sound like mine or anyone else’s. So sonically and how he writes and what he’s writing about and how he chooses to express himself vocally, all his choices are very unique, and I appreciate that about him. Not only did his announcement overshadow my music, but it overshadowed his as well. The general public was in awe and championing him for being brave enough to make that announcement publicly. I congratulate him for his successes. I would love to hear more of his music. He’s one of those artists that’s being himself and pushing boundaries. I gotta celebrate that.”

Miguel and Alicia Keys have teamed up together, the two currently out touring with each other. Miguel has had a good year so far as he was nominated for a Grammy and is putting on freaky performances for his fans, Miguel getting so into one of his performances that he fell off stage. While Miguel keeps cranking out the hits and continues to move up the R&B ladder, Alicia Keys has been putting on some of her own performances as well outside of their tour including her seated singing of the National Anthem at the Super Bowl that hit a nerve in some people and the halftime performance that she put on for the NBA All-Star game, Alicia getting hit with more negative comments but kept it very positive amidst the chatter. Regardless, fans of both artists were looking forward to seeing how they would deliver on this tour and if they would bring it on stage. According to Yes!Weekly, Miguel was actually the one who was on fire while Alicia Keys flickered in comparison to the show that he put on, concert reviewer says.

Here’s the report:

If there was a debate over which Grammy winner — Alicia Keys in the reaffirmation of her pop divadom, or R&B gatecrasher Miguel in the midst of a massive breakthrough — most emphatically grabbed the affections of the spare Easter weekend crowd at the Greensboro Coliseum on Saturday, one needed look no further than the show’s ASL interpreter for final arbitration. Signing a concert is inherently a performance art in its own right, and her treatment of Keys’ occasionally astonishing, but too often lackluster headlining set suggested as much; whether it was the naked primitiveness of “101,” the chorale detonation “Empire State of Mind” or the clumsy soap opera treatment of “You Don’t Know My Name,” the effort and accents registered at merely above par.

But for Miguel, the effort was hormonal, likely as lusty an exhibition as the lone signee had ever received from a liaison. Her gyrations and adoring facial expressions were an impassioned, and accurate, portrayal of the raw sexuality that Miguel’s music projects and, to some degree, an imagined seduction of the Los Angelino singer himself. That Miguel could outshine his superstar headliner in less time and with fewer production frivolities was not altogether unexpected; he’s not burdened by the duality of needing to constantly remind an older audience that he’s still the songwriting and instrumental mensch of a decade ago, while serving as the showpiece for big, invasive marketing money. He’s simply an extraordinary talent with cross-generational appeal.

R&B singer Miguel’s career seems to be taking off, as the “Adorn” singer has finally been nominated for a Grammy. He also recently got even more good news as he confirmed that he would be working with superstar Beyonce on her fifth studio album, something he says is a dream come true. Miguel is also rapidly expanding his fan base, and it’s clear that as long as he keeps churning out quality music, he’s in lime to have a very successful music career. Still, there are many who feel that Miguel deserves even more attention than he’s getting. Despite that, his hit single “Adorn” stayed on top of the R&B charts for about twenty weeks straight.

Perhaps Miguel feels he must follow the paths of other successful male R&B singers and work on his sex appeal. The singer has been getting serious in the gym and working out lots lately, and he has new body to show for all the long hours. Now it appears that he’s ready to show off his toned body in his performances.

During a recent performance in Sweden, the singer pretended to “get it in” with an imaginary woman on the stage. Perhaps he wanted to show off his bedroom skills to his fan base that mainly consists of women, but he seemed to take his freaky performance quite seriously and looked very focused as he made love to air on stage.

Regardless, it was pretty entertaining to watch for those that were in attendance. Was it awkward, perhaps that depends on who you ask.

Check out the clip from Miguel’s freaky breakdown below:

R&B singer Miguel surely has a way with the ladies thanks to his impressive songwriting abilities and popular love songs that have made him one of the most intriguing up and coming R&B stars to watch. He’s insanely private about his personal life, but recently, it was reported that he was secretly engaged to his girlfriend of many years. Of course those rumors were shut down by his girlfriend, and the singer has managed to get people to focus back on his great music instead of his personal life. Now that he’s finally nominated for his first Grammy, things seem to keep getting better for the young heart throb, He’s even been confirmed to be collaborating with Beyonce on her fifth studio album, a moment Miguel says he still can’t believe.

One of the other things Miguel is praised for is his live performances. Usually praised for putting on a great show, fans of the singer claim he sounds great in person and is very exciting to watch on stage. But at one of his recent concerts in London, an exciting show got even more interesting when the singer got so into his performance and dance moves that he just fell off the stage.

While singing his hit song “Adorn,” the singer ended up “twirling” right off the stage.

Of course Miguel made light of it, laughed at himself, and spent a little time in the crowd with his fans before getting back on the stage to end the performance strong.

You have to give it to Miguel for not letting a little fall hinder his show.

miguel girlfriend

Is Miguel married? Rumors about R&B singer Miguel being secretly married have been spreading like wild fire on the gossip blogs. According to the reports, the singer married his long time girlfriend and model Nazanin Mandi in Vegas over the weekend. It’s been said that Miguel did not want the public to know about his secret marriage because he didn’t want to cause any friction with his growing fan base. And of course, MTO suggests that not only did Miguel get married in Vegas, but he and his “wife” got matching infinity tattoos on their ring fingers instead of traditional wedding rings. So is this true and is Miguel married?

Well according to his alleged “wife” Nazanin Mandi, Miguel is not married. She took to her Twitter account to set the record straight and let fans of the singer know he’s not married…yet.

She tweets (read from the bottom up):

is miguel married

Apparently the rumors stared when she posted a picture of her trying on an engagement ring on her Instagram account. However, she was very clear in the caption that it was her dream ring and she hoped to have one like that one day:

is miguel married

miguel married

And the rumors even spread further when she uploaded a picture of their Infinity tattoos:

miguel married

is miguel married

So if our eyes aren’t deceiving us, it appears that the infinity tattoos are a few years old and they recently got them filled in as most people do to keep their tattoos from fading. So as usual, MTO is wrong.

Just from our observation and Instagram stalking, it’s clear that Miguel has been with Nazanin for about seven years. According to some pictures, they actually celebrated their 7 year mark 3 weeks ago. But as for now, they are not engaged or married yet. But by the looks of things, it’s definitely foreseeable in the future.
