Chris Brown has been acting real questionable these days. Some would even say that Breezy has been somewhat more erratic than he usually is, and many are starting to question if it’s due to stress of less than stellar record sales. Yesterday, the young singer remained a hot topic on the urban gossip blogs as he’s rumored to be dating Rihanna again (we already shot that down and we were the first blog to confirm that he was spotted in France with Karrueche), he also pissed off the gay community the other day with his inappropriate remarks about Frank Ocean’s sexuality and seemed to get snarky with rapper Soulja Boy for rocking his signature blond hairstyle. But the most bizarre behavior from Chris Brown would have to be when he tweeted his own fan base and demanded they “step it up” and then promptly began to block some of them on Twitter for not buying his album.
His continued display of erratic behavior and questionable troublesome appearance (skinnier face and massive weight loss) have caused many to even question if Breezy is on drugs.
But after a little conversation that I had with a publicist, she made up a good point that I really hadn’t considered which could explain everything. She suggested that she’s heard a few people suggest that Breezy would be getting dropped from his record label. While I initially dismissed it as the typical industry gossip. this became a little more possible considering that Chris Brown hasn’t gone platinum since 2007, with his double platinum album Exclusive.
If this is true, this explains why Chris would go off on his own fan base. Dude is probably stressed and at pivotal point in his career where he needs to sale an amazing amount of records. It looked like he was on the path to do it, but then Nas took away his buzz and knocked him out of the number one spot on the Billboard charts. Chris also dropped like 20 spots down on iTunes, from number one. So what happened on Twitter the other day might have been nothing more than an old fashioned panic attack from an artist who sees a split with his record company coming.
Like I mentioned earlier, this was just small talk with me and a publicist, so this is nothing more than rumors. I’d like to think that Chris is too big of an artist for RCA to give up on so quickly, with a dedicated fan base that can get his sales back on track. And because of Team Breezy, I can’t say I believe this rumor. Either way, if Chris were to ever get dropped, something tells me he’d be picked up by another label in a heartbeat. But with these kind of things, only time can tell.
What do you think?
In related news, reports are saying Chris Brown got into a scuffle with some bodyguards in a club last night. The strangest thing is he was hanging out with known cokehead Paris Hilton. This will not help that pesky drug rumors either Chris. Anyway, here’s what the NY Daily News reports:
A source tells the Daily News the 23-year-old singer got into a heated argument at Gotha Nightclub in Cannes on Wednesday night with club security when he discovered his table wasn’t in the upstairs VIP area.
The eyewitness says as soon as Brown arrived at Gotha with an entourage of about 20 men and 10 women, including girlfriend Karrueche Tran , the scuffle began. The group, led by fellow musician Barry (Mijo) Bradford , walked up the stairs to the VIP area with some “huge bodyguards, and Brown right behind them, thinking that’s where their table would be,” says the insider.
Two security guards belonging to the club, however, blocked them, and Bradford became “angry and started punching and shoving the security. Then Chris and his bodyguards got involved and they were pushing and screaming at each other.”
The eyewitness in the VIP area says extra security was called in and even Paris Hilton’s private security — the heirhead was also partying at Gotha — stepped in to break up the fight. Finally, Brown and Bradford’s group was convinced to go to the table downstairs, where Brown began happily dancing on top of the couch and drinking Champagne straight from the bottle.
Lord.
