God’s Wrath Is More Powerful Than Yours

Don’t seek revenge on those who hurt you for God will handle them better than you can

“Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord”
Romans 12:19

“Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the Lord, and he shall save thee”
Proverbs 20:22

“But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also”
Matthew 5:39

All of these bible verses focus on revenge. When people hurt us, our first instinct is to get them back. Often times, we react out of sheer anger and disappointment in how someone has treated us. But what we fail to understand is that we do not need to fight fire with fire. Don’t seek your own revenge on a person. It only causes the situation to become worse. It may seem like the right thing to do at the moment. But we will most likely regret our actions later.

It is so hard not to react when we are mistreated by someone. Some things that people put us through are just so unbelievably horrible that they just have to be taught a lesson. But we are not the ones who need to teach it to them. Let God handle our enemies. He will handle our enemies much better than we can. He sees and hears everything so He knows when his children mistreat one another.

Although we may believe in God’s wrath, we shouldn’t wish bad things upon our enemies. We must forgive them wholeheartedly for what they have done to us no matter how bad it was. So when we feel the need to get back at someone who has done us wrong, stop and think for a moment. Will seeking our own revenge on a person improve the situation?

Always remember that God’s wrath is much more powerful than yours. Trust and believe in His power to take care of everything. Most of all, pray for those who have done harm to you. Only then will God step in and take over everything for us.
