The Game Pushes “R.E.D.” Album Back

By: Taren Vaughan

Former G-Unit member Jayceon “The Game” Taylor helped put Cali rappers back on the map in 2005. He has been off the scene for a minute now. And millions of fans are highly anticipating the Compton native’s next project. His upcoming album “R.E.D.” was set to hit stores this June. The Game is not the only rapper that would have been dropping a new LP in June. Young Money’s Drake and Eminem are also on the verge of releasing new albums. Many questioned if The Game pushed his album release date back due to fear of competition. Here’s what he told Rap-Up TV on competing with Drake and Emi’s albums:

“Nah man, it’s just a package deal, you should go and support hip-hop, go get Thank Me Later and go grab R.E.D. and you good,” “You know you’re good, then the next week you come back and buy Eminem, great. June is gonna be a big month. So no, it’s no competition. Everything don’t gotta be a competition and we’re not even the same type of [artist,] we’re not in the same lane. I respect what he does and I talked to him before, he’s a fan of mine so we’ll just keep it like that and put it out, people will go and buy them and who cares who’s number one, number two, it don’t make no sense to me because I’ve been around and sold millions of records already. I have nothing else to prove.”

50 Cent may have been the front runner of G-Unit. But The Game has definitely made his presence known. Will “R.E.D.” be worth the wait? The new release date is July 6th of this year.
