Packers and Colts Deliver Preseason Thriller

By: Taren Vaughan

The Thursday night game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Green Bay Packers was by far one of the best preseason games yet. At the beginning of the game, it definitely could have gone either way as both teams were not unfamiliar with the end zone. Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw for 195 yards in the first half and was virtually having no problems getting the ball to his receivers as he still remains one of the few league quarterbacks that have not yet thrown an interception during preaseason. Pretty impressive Mr. Rodgers. Although the Packers’ offense looked immaculate, on the other side of the ball, the defense did have some minor problems. As for the Boys In Blue, this was the third preseason loss for the Colts, leaving them still winless as we get ready to enter into Week 4. The game remained close up until late into the second half, and it was all Green Bay from then on. The Packers go on to defeat the Colts 59-24. Don’t let the score fool you. This game was well worth watching. As for the other Thursday night match up, it was the St. Louis Rams who came out on top. Newly acquired quarterback Sam Bradford has already made a name for himself during preseason. So far, Bradford is showing us why he was the first pick overall in this year’s draft. And could be on his way to becoming the Rams’ first string quarterback if he keeps it up. Bradford completed his first six passes, finished 15-of-22 for 189 yards. To make matters better, he was only sacked one time during the entire game. All this Bradford talk doesn’t overshadow the performance from Pats’ Tom Brady who completed 18 of 22 passes. Both clubs faired well in this one, with just a point separating the two.
