‘Bath Salts’ or Possession: What Really Turned Rudy Eugene Into A Cannibal?

Was Rudy Eugene’s cannibalistic rampage caused by drugs or was he possessed?

The news of the “face-eating zombie” attack down in Miami, Florida has spread like wildfire all over the country. And it has left people utterly disgusted and questioning what led to this vicious attack on a helpless homeless man. For those who witnessed the gory act and saw the remnants of it, it appeared that Rudy Eugene may have been under the influence:

“We have seen, already, three or four cases that are exactly like this where some people have admitted taking LSD and it’s no different than cocaine psychosis,” – Sgt. Armando Aguilar

Called “Ivory Wave,” “Vanilla Sky,” and a boatload of other street names, “bath salts”, which was what Eugene was speculated to have taken, were one of the most abused drugs during 2011 and were the cause of numerous trips to the emergency room and poison control calls.  In a report from CNN, “bath salts” can heavily damage a person’s mental state:

“The effects include producing feelings of empathy, stimulation, alertness, euphoria, sensory awareness and hallucinations. Other reported effects include rapid heart rate, high blood pressure, and sweating. According to the DEA, MDPV has been reported to cause intense panic attacks, psychosis, and a strong desire to use the drug again.”

The side effects are similar to those of other popular street drugs as we see.

It’s one thing to watch Anthony Hopkins play Hannibal Lecter on the big screen or catch a zombie flick in the movies with your friends. But when those story lines start to become reality, one may begin to grow concerned.

Many people are questioning what really drove Eugene to behave in this horrific manner. Some believe that his actions were fueled by drug use while others think it was something much more powerful.

What do you think?

Was it drugs that led to Eugene’s attack? Or was it much more than that?

  1. This man was obviously on some very strong drugs. This is just sick and so demonic that I am still left in shock after hearing about it for the last week or so. When will people learn to leave these drugs alone? I feel sorry for the homeless man because if he survives, his life will never be the same.

    1. “I feel sorry for the homeless man because if he survives, his life will never be the same.” … Lol sorry can’t help but laugh, seeing that he was homeless and will still be homeless after this attack. Hopefully the hospital will pay for the medical bills.
