48-year-old actress dies from Stage 4 cervical cancer.

As Nikki Parker’s sidekick on The Parkers and Smokey’s “love interest” in the movie Friday, Yvette Wilson made us laugh in every role that she played. And as many of us missed seeing her, there was a reason behind her absence from television.

The 48-year-old actress had been battling cervical cancer for quite some time, a form of cancer that greatly affects African American women worldwide.

Good friend and former cast mate Shar Jackson tweeted about Wilson’s condition prior to her passing, implying that it was getting worse and in need of serious prayer:

“Everyone plz send prayer and light to my sister and best friend Yvette Wilson. I need my prayer soldiers right.”

After Wilson’s passing, Jackson took to Twitter again to express her sadness of losing her dear friend:

“F**k Cancer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh God. My heart is soooo unbelievably broken. I wanna thank all my tweeties for their prayers but God has chosen to take my sister Yvette home.”

According to Humor Mill, Wilson was struggling to pay her medical bills that had accumulated and was in desperate need of a kidney transplant. In such a need that her friends tried to help her get the money in any way that they could. Jeffrey Pittle, a friend of Wilson’s and a cancer survivor himself, created a website through which he accepted donations for her. The donations were going to pay for the bills that she had racked up and any other health related costs. The website was showing much success as it was able to bring in nearly $14,000. Unfortunately, she was unable to use the funds as she passed away Thursday.

Appearing in several movies from Friday to House Party 3, Wilson was most known for her role as “Andell Wilkerson” on hit shows The Parkers and Moesha.

Very sad news.
