Emily B: Stop Comparing Me To Mimi Faust!

Emily B and Fab

By: Taren Vaughan

Is Mimi Faust just another Emily B? After taking in a few episodes of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, it was only a matter of time before people started to make their comparisons about which characters represented those from the original Love and Hip Hop cast. An easy one to spot for most was K. Michelle and Olivia, the R&B singers looking to make some major career moves in the music industry. As for the couple similarities, Mimi and Stevie J.’s relationship gave people a flashback of the one that Emily Bustamante and Rapper Fabolous had with each other. The side chick (or past chick) drama, years of being off and on with each other and having a child together…where does the difference lie?

Some viewers saw none at all. Emily doesn’t see it that way though.

She shared her thoughts in an interview with Hello Beautiful about Love and Hip Hop Atlanta and reality TV in general. And she said that even though people have labeled Fabolous as Stevie J. and says that she takes on the “Mimi” role, Emily doesn’t agree and claims that herself nor Fab are anything like the spin-off show’s characters:

“You know I get a little upset when they compare characters because I’m nothing like any of those women. My story is not like any of those stories. I don’t see Fab in any of those men in that show at all. No offense to them, but nobody knows [how it is]. Y’all get to see the Stevie J’s and the Lil’ Scrappy’s and nobody really knows who Fab is or what he does or what he’s about. People just make assumptions and it really bothers me because he was never on camera for you to make that assumption so people really don’t know.”

Emily may not like being compared to Mimi but she says that she does have sympathy for her and all the foolishness that she has gone through with Stevie, things that she couldn’t picture herself putting up with:

“There is a big question I mean I spoke to Mimi and watching her I felt for her. I understand how it feels to love someone and feel that pain, but I’ve never been through anything that she’s been through. Fab only has one child with me so I don’t know what that feels like to have a man with many. I’ve never dealt with anything on that level in my life. Her story is a strong powerful story that I can’t even imagine going through.”

It’s still up in the air as to whether or not Mimi Faust is going to return for the second season of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta. With Mimi spilling tea all over the place in interviews makes it seem that way. Emily on the other hand has no plans of leaving the reality TV show world just yet and is planning on linking up with Chrissy Lampkin again:

“Well right now I’m filming a spin off to “Love & Hip Hop.” Me and Chrissy are filming a project. I won’t go into too much detail, but we have a project coming out in the Fall which is going to be a totally different”

Emily also said that the new show starring herself and Chrissy will not resemble drama-packed Love and Hip-Hop but will be more family friendly:

I mean, same producers but different feel–more of a family-fun loving show.”

Mona Scott Young behind a drama-free reality show? Interesting.

Are Emily B and Mimi Faust the splitting image of each other?

  1. In my opinion. Emily is worst. She has nothing going for herself besides being Fab’s baby momma. Yes Mimi is stupid for dealing with Stebie, but seriously, she has her own money and her own business. She makes enough dough that she was taking care of HIM. So sorry Emily, but no you’re not Mimi, you’re much worse!

  2. Real talk a lot of women are weak. Yall just watching them on TV so yall trying to grand stand. Look, if you stay with a cheating dude, you’re not strong. But stop pointing your fingers at these women because you see their weakness on TV and your can be hidden because it’s not being filmed.

  3. I think everyone has some sort of weakness in life at one point or another. To me it takes a pretty strong woman to keep fighting for something or somone you love. Quitting is just that quitting and it’s never easy to be in any situation where loved ones get hurt. I just wish people would stop trying to downgrade these women.

    On a somewhat lighter note.
Chrissy in a family fun spin off lmao good luck. I think it’s gonna be hard to go from stomping on video hoes literally and wearing no pants on the cover of some magazine to “Family Fun” Gonna be interesting to say the least for at least a couple episodes.. I hope they can get Jones’ mama on there or else I just can’t be bothered.
