Source Says Evelyn Divorced Chad Only Because VH1 Show Was Cancelled

chad and evelyn divorce

Just a week or so after Chad and Evelyn shocked everyone with their nasty domestic dispute that resulted in Chad head butting Evelyn, Chad getting dropped by the Miami Dolphins, and VH1 cancelling their upcoming reality show ; many can’t say they were shocked when Evelyn filed for divorce a few days after. Although Evelyn has been incredibly silent about the scandal besides her official statement released by her camp, many are speculating that the reality television star is so embarrassed by all of the events that she has cancelled most of her upcoming public appearances, in an attempt to forgo trying to explain the recent events. It’s obvious that neither Chad nor Evelyn anticipated that an argument over a box of condoms would have led to such a bug dent in their pockets, and even one of the shortest marriages Hollywood has ever seen. And to top it all off, the country that hosted the former couple’s wedding and paid the bill just announced that they want their money back.

But it turns out that old mistresses of Chad aren’t the only ones talking to the media and dishing dirty secrets (or lies) about Chad and Evelyn’s ultimate demise.

Even though Evelyn has decided she would use the opportunity to speak out against domestic violence and even suggested she was leaving Chad due to his “issues,” some are saying she really left because she was pissed that VH1 pulled the plug on their reality show.

Here’s what the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting:

Hollywood pals of “Basketball Wives” reality TV personality Evelyn Lozada were not the least bit surprised when she filed for divorce from Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson earlier this week — as Johnson’s life spiraled quickly downhill in the wake of an assault charge following a domestic spat with Lozada.

Already released by the Miami Dolphins, the former “Dancing With the Stars” contestant and his wife were told that VH1 was dropping the couple’s “Ev and Ocho” reality series, already being produced but yet to air.

According to a source close to Lozada, she phoned her attorney to file for divorce immediately after getting the word VH1 had jettisoned her new show.

“She was really pissed. … Evelyn is all about fame and self-promotion, and once she realized that marriage [to Johnson] wasn’t working to help that — she was out. … She’s tough and could handle the abuse, though most of it with Chad was verbal. But she can’t stand the chance of not being in the public eye anymore.”

  1. Either Chad’s people are trying to ruin Ev’s image more than it was already or Ev is as terrible as we always thought her to be. SMH.

  2. I hope this is not true. I’d like to think Evelyn is not the gold digging monster the show made her seem like. If this is true, this is sad. Are some women that desperate for fame?

  3. LOL this better not be true. So she’d take abuse as long as she’s still relevant and “famous?” That would make her pathetic.

  4. Call me crazy but I believe it. She was with Antoine for like 10 years and he treated her like crap. She only left him when he went broke. So this is totally plausible.

  5. I believe it. We all know she was only in to for 2 reasons, fame and money. So when both of those go sour, why would she stay and work it out? Chad’s image will forever be tarnished, that’s not the kind of fame she wants.

  6. Some women can be purchased…sad but true. When the money and fame dries up, they will move on to the next. Sadly men will still date them knowing these things.

  7. So this person is saying the abuse was mostly verbal? I can believe that much. He said some real disrespectful stuff to her on Basketball Wives. Red flags were raised to me then. But as usual, Evelyn would just laugh it off like it was a joke. That man was serious the whole time. I think he married her for business reasons.

  8. This could be true. Evelyn is about her money. There’s no question that losing a lot of it in such a short time period made her freak out and file for divorce. Regardless, Chad still should have kept that big waterhead of his to himself.

  9. I have no sympathy for professional athletes who knowingly date women who are known for being gold digging wh-res. And no one should be surprised that she only left because the show was cancelled. She’s only about money and fame. Shaunie should have never even made a show to give these kinds of women a platform.

    1. Shaunie gave them a platform because she is one of them. She’s Evelyn, Tami, and the rest of those sad b-tches. They couldn’t get a real basketball wife like Tamia or Kobe’s wife to take any part in that trash.

  10. So, am I the only one wondering what kind of people these celebrities have around them where reports such as this one can even be written in the first place?! “Evelyn is all about fame and self-promotion, and once she realized that marriage [to Johnson] wasn’t working to help that — she was out. … She’s tough and could handle the abuse, though most of it with Chad was verbal. But she can’t stand the chance of not being in the public eye anymore.” <– REALLY DUDE?! Sometimes I question whether these "insider" stories are even credible just because they're so shallow. Then again, what's to be expected of celebrities and "reality tv stars" anyway? They live for this isht……
