Kanye’s mom passing due to plastic surgery left Kanye West emotionally devastated. It was simply something the rapper just didn’t see coming and he had not prepared to lose his mother just minutes after she went under the knife for several plastic procedures. Kanye’s mom, Donda West, went under the knife in for a single surgery that would take care of multiple procedures in 2007, which included a tummy tuck, a breast augmentation, and liposuction. However, the very next day, Donda West passed away after having complications. Immediately after her passing, the media began to scrutinize the plastic surgeon, Dr. Jan Adams, and they began to question if he could have done anything to prevent her death.

Adams hasn’t really spoken out about the incident, but he now reveals that he feels the media has created a controversy out of the entire situation. He also feels like Journalists didn’t do enough research before attempting to label him as an irresponsible doctor.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, he tells his side of the story.

When asked if he feels responsible for Donda West’s death, he says:

“I feel responsible totally because I’m the surgeon. And I’m the guy in charge. But I’m not the guy to blame.”

On whether or not he has any regrets:

“Not at all. Not at all. I have no reservations whatsoever about that. I have no reservations about her surgery or anything like that. It’s a tragedy that she’s not here and she was a wonderful woman. Okay?”

Dr. Jan Adams explains what he think caused West’s death:

“What probably happened and unfortunately is that this lady, Ms. West, laid down, ate, had narcotics on board, aspirated, her lungs got all this food in it and four minutes later she passed away.”

Adams also feels like the media created controversy out of such a tragic situation:

“But they told the story wrong. And as Journalists, quotation marks, as Journalists, that’s a violation of what Journalists do.”

Adams was arrested for DUIs after West’s death and had to serve 8 months in jail. When asked if he still struggles with alcohol:

“I never struggled with alcohol before. So I don’t think it’s a problem with alcohol. But to answer your question, do I drink now? No, it doesn’t serve me.”

He also had to give his medical license up after being jailed for DUIs, but claims he will “have that back in the next 30 days.”

Dr. Jan Adams does not feel like he contributed to Donda West’s death, but he admits he still has not had a conversation with Kanye. But honestly, he doesn’t think they need to talk. And he says he would tell Kanye:

“Hello. How’s things going? How’s the music business? Kanye and I don’t need to talk about this. We both lived it. We both know the facts. And we’ve both moved on. It’s a travesty, a lot of lives have travesties. He knows that. As far as I’m concerned, that’s cat’s a gentleman because he got it. But he got it because he knew the truth from the start. Silence tells you everything.”

    1. THIS! He was smug the entire time. Maybe he’s bitter about the scrutiny he got, but hell, she was the mother to a major celeb. That’s just how it is.

  1. I don’t understand why she wanted to get all that surgery done. Who was she trying to impress? Her son is one of the biggest rappers out. She was a successful professor, what more did she need to prove? IJS.

    1. It was probably something she always wanted to do. Kanye probably paid for it as a gift and things just went really wrong. But when women get around her age, a lot of them start thinking about getting some work done.

      1. I guess that’s true, I would just think she didn’t feel the need to change anything about herself when she appeared to have it all. But I guess success doesn’t mean people feel confident with how they look.

  2. I don’t know what happened but I don know Kanye has not been the same since his mother passed. I seriously doubt he’d be doing a lot of the things he’s doing had she still been around. It’s crazy to listen to his old lyrics and see how he acts today.

    1. That’s the damn truth. I can’t even stomach him anymore as an artist. He’s a total sell out lyrics wise. Especially that damn Clique song. He’s such a coon.

      1. Kanye in Clique: “You know white people get money, don’t spend it
Or maybe they get money, buy a business
I rather buy 80 gold chains and go ign’ant
I know Spike Lee gone kill me but let me finish
Blame it on the pigment…” <<< COON!!!

  3. Had Donda still been alive he would have NEVER ended up with Kim. He knew he had to date women with education, class, and something to offer besides sex.

  4. i think that parenthood will be good for kanye. he’ll come back to being the person his mother raised him to be (and who his fans appreciated). i have a feeling that his rebirth is in the making…
