Rita Ora is Tired of the Rihanna Comparisons

Rita Ora is all set to become the next big star of Roc Nation. Although the young singer has made a name for herself in the United Kingdom, she’s still in need of a major breakthrough in the United States. But Rita might have gotten that recently with the help of Rob Kardashian. Kim Kardashian’s brother took it upon himself to unleash an epic Twitter rant about Rita Ora, who just so happens to be his ex girlfriend. Although the reality star never mentioned the singer by name, his obvious references to Rita weren’t too hard to put together. In Rob’s rant, he claimed Rita cheated on him with 20 men. Days after the Twitter rant made headlines on just about every media outlet, Rob Kardashian then took to his Twitter account to deny that any of the tweets were referring to Rita Ora. But as we recently reported, the whole thing may not have been anything more than a publicity stunt.

Rita and Rihanna may share the same management in Roc Nation, but the two are being compared for other reasons, Both have been accused of copying the other one’s style, but many have speculated that it is actually Rita who has some kind of obsession to be more like Rihanna.

But in a recent interview with Glamour UK, Rita says she has had just about enough of the Rihanna comparisons, and it kind of sounds like she doesn’t want to have much more of a friendship with the fellow Roc Nation superstar either.

She says:

“It’s just so unnecessary, the most unnecessary thing I’ve ever heard, actually. I mean, last time I checked, I’ve been blonde since I was 14 years old. My inspiration has always been from old-school, classic, so I don’t take any notice of that.

“I’ve met Rihanna and she’s fun to hang with. Don’t get me wrong: I see nothing but great things, but I think it’s time to move on now.”

Rita made headlines after Rob Kardashian decided to drag her on Twitter. Rita also says she doesn’t mind the media being all up in her business though:

“If you want to do my job, you have to suck it up, because it goes hand-in-hand with what you’re doing. At the end of the day, the media are helping you – they’re what you need.

“You can turn around and punch a paparazzo in the face, or you can keep moving and let them get the shot, but that’s not what you should be worried about. The main concern should be getting respect for your music.”

And Rita may not want to be compared to Rihanna anymore, but she did gush about another big pop star in the interview. Turns out, Beyonce is her idol. She says:

“She was my idol and suddenly there we were, sitting down together. She was the nicest, gentlest, most humble woman. There’s something really calming about talking to her. She gave me the best piece of advice anyone’s ever given me about this job—‘Keep your family close.”
