Trey Songz has been a face in the R&B game for a minute now, his image and sound, along with his nickname, reminds music heads of a younger version of R. Kelly. And ever since he got his big break, Trey Songz has continued to put out albums filled with a mixture of love songs and party tracks, some club bangers of his stirring up controversy due to the derogatory lyrics that they had in them. Even though he has been around in the game for some years now, Trey Songz has not seen the kind of fame that some other popular male singers have like Chris Brown and Usher, who have altered their images and sound throughout their careers. Yet he still has fans that go crazy over him during his appearances on shows and performances. Be that as it may, Trey Songz made it clear that he is sticking strictly to his R&B roots and has no plans of crossing over into the pop zone for mass appeal. Not having crossover appeal is the least of the R&B singer’s worries right now as a trip to the “gentlemen club” resulted in him getting arrested, for being too destructive with his dollar bill throwing:

Songz (real name Tremaine Neverson) had an album release party on August 21 at a  gentleman’s club in Queens. According to police, somewhere between 4:00 and 4:15  AM on the 22nd, Trey became involved in an altercation inside the  club.

Cops described the incident this way in the criminal complaint:  “Tremaine Neverson, did throw a sum of United States currency at the complainant  and said sum of United States currency struck the complainant’s left eye causing  substantial pain to her left eye.”

It is unclear if the woman in question  was … how do we say this nicely … a s*ripper.

Songz was not arrested  that night, but rather a month later for misdemeanor assault. Songz had a court  date in NY on November 1 and an order of protection was issued. He is due  back in court in February.
