Rihanna irritates Barrington high school students for showing up late to visit? Rihanna is in the midst of putting on shows for her ‘Diamonds’ world tour for her fans across the globe, the star possibly taking a break after the tour is over. And as the singer’s world tour got off to a delayed start due to illness, Rihanna has started up with her performances, one of her recent shows being in Montreal, Canada, a show that got kicked off two hours late. Rihanna has gotten bashed in the past for showing up late to concerts yet these particular fans weren’t terribly upset with her over it. Her fans that she kept waiting in Montreal were forgiving and didn’t make much of her late arrival to her show. But she didn’t get nearly the same reaction out of some Chicago high school students that were waiting to see her at an event at their school.

Rihanna was set to take the stage at Barrington High School in Chicago and help them celebrate the charitable work that they had done throughout the school year as they won the chance to have her come to their school; Rihanna sponsored a contest where she invited schools to produce videos to her hit single “Diamonds” that highlighted their charity work. It was said that the pop star barely acknowledged the fact that she was late but did thank the students and staff for waiting for her to arrive. After showing up more than four hours and 30 minutes late, it was said that Rihanna stayed for roughly sixteen minutes and took a few pictures and was gone.

Though she still caused an excited eruption when she finally arrived, there were some students who made it clear that they were not feeling how late she was to the event. One student wrote the following message to Rihanna on a cardboard sign expressing just how they felt about her showing up late to their school:

“90% of life is just showing up! We’re talking to you, Rihanna!”

Junior Patricia Halle, the student responsible for naming the event “The survive Rihanna event” told the Chicago Tribune that she understood the concept of being fashionably late but what Rihanna did was flat out rude and that her and her schoolmates’ lives don’t revolve around celebrities, Halle saying that Rihanna should have a little more respect for what their school was able to accomplish:

“It’s one thing to be fashionably late. This is just rude. Our lives don’t revolve around a pop star. Our school worked hard to win this. She should be more respectful. “

Another student, seventh-grader Jaki Mora added her take on Rihanna’s lateness:

“Rihanna is pathetic. She shouldn’t be making us wait for her.”

Rihanna seemingly placed the blame of her being late on the traffic in Chicago as she tweeted a picture of herself inside of a car, writing:

“This Chicago traffic is not working.”

A lot of Rihanna’s fans might brush off her being late to shows and be cool with her behavior on Instagram that more folks are seeming to have issues with these days. But this group of kids is not having it.

  1. Rihanna needs to get it together. Once you piss off your fans, you’re toast. At least apologize when you’re late. I mean damn…

  2. She doesn’t care. And won’t care until it’s too late. She’s got people around her telling her she’s the queen and can’t fall off. She’ll see. The music industry is a cold place.

  3. Rihanna needs to get her sh-t together. She’s cursing people out on Instagram and showing up late to her own concert and events. Come on man…

    1. I can understand if she is exhausted, hell she puts out an album every year. But take a break before you disrespect your fans. She was just late to one of her own concerts. And she didn’t apologize then either. She needs to get it together ASAP.

  4. WTH? Rihanna is trippin. Bish gets back with Chris and starts showing her a-s to her own fans. Not cool.

  5. I think Rihanna needs to slow down and humble herself. In the music biz, you can be on top of the world one day and then irrelevant the next.

  6. Like most of you said, she doesn’t care anymore..Ithink she used to care about her fans (especially when Brown hit her),but now she thinks she all that..Be carefull Riri, cuz the fans were the ones to put you there, they can be easily be the one to take you down, if you don’t show respect to them…….SMH
