Amy Winehouse’s hit song “Back to Black” was already a classic, but when reports confirmed that Jay-Z would be producing a cover to the song with his superstar wife Beyonce and very talented rapper Andre 3000, the news was met with mixed reactions. While some expressed they thought it was disrespectful for anyone to cover the song considering Amy hasn’t been deceased that long, others questioned if Beyonce and Andre 3000 had what it takes to make a quality cover that could create the same kind of emotions from people like the original did. But not surprisingly, the biggest critic of the cover ended up being Amy Winehouse’s own father Mitch.

Mitch Winehouse is very vocal on his Twitter account and he also recently gave an interview in which he pretty much shaded Beyonce and Jay-Z for deciding to do the cover. Initially, he told The Daily Mail that he wasn’t happy about it and felt like Beyonce didn’t bring anything to the song:

“I don’t think she brings anything to it. I wasn’t asked for my permission if they could record it. They have got to pay for the privilege, which is what they are doing. I can’t tell you how much it is but it’s a lot of money.”

Mitch eventually retracted his statements and said he thought Beyonce did a great job when the Beyhive starting coming for him in his mentions, but it appears that he’s now set his shots to Andre 3000. Mitch took to his Twitter account recently and suggested that he felt Andre 3000’s verse was “terrible.” He tweets:

      1. Nah…sorry, I live in the real world. And in the real world, being the parent to an artist doesn’t allow you to be classless and a d-ck on Twitter. A classic example is how Chris Brown’s dad kept it respectful when he said he didn’t think Chris and Rih should be together anymore. This man here is a douche bag and can’t seem to be respectful to other artists trying to honor his own daughter. You can sugarcoat it or be blind to the truth for as long as you need to in your fantasy land tho. But in the real world, people should have class and respect when other artists choose to pay homage to their kid. His continuous putdowns of other artists is ridiculous. In fact, thats really all he’s been doing lately on Twitter. I’d say more about how I feel he didn’t hold his daughter down while she was alive but then you’d say I’m disrespectful. #irony

        And he doesn’t know squat about Hip Hop. I hope I was more clear this time.

        1. Are you having a bad day Ms.? I’m wondering how you would know what I would say? Do you talk on blogs alot? By your extra long unnecessary commentary to something so simple seems as if you do..Well let me send you a cyber hug Ms. {(())}

          1. Ok. So now you want to resort to trying to patronize me because you couldn’t think of an intelligent response. I made you feel small, so you’re trying to return the favor by a very weak attempt to discredit my response. That’s fine. Too easy.

            I actually had a lovely day, but I don’t handle patronizing comments well. You tried to be clever and I gave you the comment i felt was most deserving. I’m not interested in cyber hugs by people who feel the need to “check people” for having different opinions, but then resort to “cyber hugs” when they can’t formulate a witty response.

            I digress. I’ll let you have the last word too, anything to give your damaged ego a boost is the least I can do. I gotta go…my show is coming on and it’s more entertaining than this.

          2. Thank you Ms. I needed that giggle!! So what show are you watching? Maybe we can chit chat about it later!! *gives cyber hug* {((()))}

        2. If u live in the “real world” then i must have been living on Jupiter all my life! Whether he knows anything about hip hop or not is besides the point. That was HIS CHILD and that song was HER SH*T..NOT Beyonce’s or Dre’s! He is in MORE of a position than anyone else to express his dislike over the damn song! Why some people act like saying anything negative about Beyonce is commiting “blasphomy,” i’ll never understand! People are NOT required to be a fan! Who are u to say ANYTHING about what kind of a father he was to Amy when U were’nt there?!! FALL BACK INTO A STADIUM FULL OF SEATS!!

          1. Girl, get lost. This post here is about Andre 3000, but you’re so pressed, bitter, and thirsty that you are the only person that brought Beyonce into this. And for that reason alone, I won’t entertain you past this reply. I can’t waste too much time on pressed/jealous females. Your whole existence is questionable.

            And yes, I live in the real world where I can type what the hell I want to. He can question Andre 3000’s verse and I can question his parenting skills. What are you going to do about it, type hard? Now do like the other pressed females and type away to your heart’s desires. And then YOU have a seat with everyone else I could give two sh-ts about.

          2. @LaLa Girl shut your miserable and jealous behind up. The real issue you have is that you can’t stand the fact that Beyonce gets so much love on here. People like you are so damn jealous to see other people work hard, get success, and then get praised for it because you don’t have sh-t to show for your pathetic life. That’s what this is all about. You needed to vent about Beyonce. You’re on the wrong post for that. But I’m glad you got it off your chest. But make no mistake, you still have to face your mediocre life. Meanwhile, successful women like myself love us some Beyonce. LOL! You have to be a pretty big failure to let someone else’s praise make you that mad. But don’t worry, you can go be a fan of Keyshia Cole. She only requires that you be miserable and have lots of man problems. I’m sure you fit the bill.

  1. I know he loves his daughter and feels she’s the most talented person to ever have done it (and he should because that’s his kid) but he’s annoying as hell.

  2. Someone please get this man off Twitter. He’s coming after legends in the game now, but I’m sure he’d be pissed if someone said something sideways about his daughter. He should show people the same respect he wants them to show Amy.

  3. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook…all that sh-t is the devil. All these platforms do is hype people up into thinking their opinions not only matter, but are actual facts. He needs to have a seat.

  4. @Shannon..u should worry more about YOUR own parenting skills (that’s if u have any kids), and LESS about some celebrities who u dont know from a hole in the ground! U sound very pompous & arrogant but this world is FULL of all kinds so far be it from me to argue with the likes of u..i got better things to do! @KingBey..u Bey stans are VERY strange indeed! Y’all LOVE to holler dat same ole tired azz crap bout everybody being sooooo jealous of Bey & assuming that our lives are so miserable! LOL..i’m comfortable in my life..it may not be a “bed of roses” but i manage. PLEASE TRUST ME when i say that i am in NO WAY a Beyonce hater! In fact i’ve come to her defense on several of the hate-filled comments about her on other sites. I admire her determination..ambition..work ethic..perfectionism. Plus she’s such a humble person with a beautiful sweet heart & soul! I’ve just never been a fan of hers..is that a crime?! I would’nt want the life that comes with having that kinda FAME..it’s scary! I wont LIE..i would LOVE her bank account tho!!
