Jay-Z has just recently launched Roc Nation Sports and the good news keeps pouring in for the company. We reported yesterday that Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports landed its first client in New York Yankees baseball player Robinson Cano, a deal that made some people in the baseball industry pretty angry as they feel Jay-Z ‘doesn’t know sh*t about baseball’ and that Cano’s move wasn’t a smart one. Well those that are salty over the deal with Robinson Cano may have more to be upset over as RNS has gained yet another client. And this time it isn’t one that plays on the diamond. New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz has now dropped his agent to sign with the CAA sports agency, the agency that has formed a partnership with Roc Nation Sports, NY Daily News is reporting:

Cruz, the Giants’ salsa-happy star receiver, is expected to soon become the next high-profile New York athlete to join forces with Jay Z’s new sports agency, according to two NFL sources familiar with Cruz’s plans. He will likely join Yankees slugger Robinson Cano in the new Roc Nation Sports stable, which was founded by Shawn (Jay-Z) Carter and is associated with CAA.

Cruz, a restricted free agent, fired agent Malik Shareef last month and signed with CAA’s Tom Condon, one of the most powerful agents in the NFL. The move came after Cruz and the Giants spent more than a year haggling over a long-term contract and never came close to a deal.

The Giants, one source said, believe that Condon will continue to represent Cruz in talks with the team regardless of any deal he signs with Jay-Z to handle his other business activities.

And many believe that Victor Cruz was hinting during last football season that he would soon be linking up with Jay:

Cruz tipped his hand about his association with Jay-Z last season when he added a Jay-Z trademark to his own trademark touchdown dance. Cruz does the salsa after touchdowns, a dance taught to him by his late grandmother, and last season he ended the dance by putting his hands together to make the shape of a diamond.

It was said that Jay-Z wouldn’t stop with baseball as he was planning on branching out into other sports. Didn’t take him long at all to make that happen.

  1. Can’t even hate. Jay is doing his thing. This was a smart move considering Victor is one of the best WRs in the game right now.
