LisaRaye practicing celibacy? LisaRaye is no stranger to speaking her mind, and the actress has always been open about her disastrous experiences with men and relationships. Now divorced, while she continues to bulk up her acting resume and is a lead actress on VH1’s hit show “Single Ladies” she recently revealed she’s trying a new approach to love and romance. In fact, her new approach is actually celibacy, and she says she decided to hold out from “doing the deed” until she builds a solid foundation with a man first. LisaRaye says she never actually taken her time to build a foundation with the men she’s dated and she thinks that could be where she went wrong. She tells Cocoa Fab:

“I’m in a new place. I’ve tried everything but celibacy, and I really want to know what it feels like to be touched by someone with a mental touch and not a physical touch. I want to know what it is to build the foundation of the friendship for real, to have my best friend and not because we’re just intimate, but because we’re mentally intimate. So I’m waiting for that person to come into my life. And when I get myself together, I know God is gonna bless me with that, because I don’t want to come with extra baggage. I’ll come with some, but it’s not fair to him to come with a whole bunch.”

What do you think about LisaRaye’s comments? Does she make a good point? Should women focus more on building solid foundations before becoming physical with men they are interested in? Speak on it below.

  1. She’s right but I don’t know if she can say she’s practicing celibacy. Sounds like she is saying she wants to court, and I think people don’t do enough of that these days.

    1. No, they don’t. In a culture of ‘hooking up’ courting is an ancient activity. Hope it works out for Lisa Ray.

  2. Hmm…I feel the whole foundation thing. I do understand that’s important. But I don’t know if celibacy is the answer so to speak. Maybe taking your time and knowing a person before sleeping with them is key versus giving up sex all together.

  3. LOL yeah right. I give her a few months to crack. Everyone wants to be celibate until they actually are.

    1. Girl have some faith lol. Being celibate is hard, but I am very sure it’s the reason I’m married now. I think Lisa can do it and should at least try it.

  4. I agree building that foundation is necessary before jumping in the bed with someone because sex can complicate things.

  5. Funny to read her saying this because I’m going through that right now. I will say when I told a lot of men I wasn’t having sex anymore, a lot of them weren’t interested. They really didn’t want anything to do with me. So it’s a good way to weed out the bad guys. The guy who wasn’t fazed I’m still with. And we do have a foundation. I’m not sure what the future holds because I’m not God, but I think we’re doing pretty good. I’m happy and can say waiting is the reason why, at least in my life.

    1. Wishing you guys more happiness! I used to be celibate before I got married and I’m glad I did it. It helped me think clearly and see things in a better perspective.

    2. I’ve been celibate for six months now. And yes, you really do weed out the bad men. I get frustrated sometimes, but I’m faithful God has something better for me. I’m tired of wasting my time.

  6. I completely agree with her. Foundation is everything. I learned that the hard way and I will never rush into anything again.
