Is Evelyn Lozada lying about Chad? Former NFL player Chad Johnson’s whole world was changed when his marriage to “Basketball Wives” star Evelyn Lozada ended in him headbutting her during an argument over a receipt for a box of condoms. Now divorced, both claim a heated argument got nasty quickly after Evelyn discovered proof that her husband of two months was sleeping with other women, and the whole situation has caused Chad to basically lose his entire football career. Since Chad’s career is pretty much done because his image took such a major hit, many of Evelyn’s critics have blamed her for the demise of Chad’s NFL career. However, Evelyn claims she doesn’t feel it’s fair to blame her for Chad’s career going south, and she didn’t ask to be cheated on and headbutted in the first place.

When the story first broke, Chad claimed that it was Evelyn who actually headbutted him during their argument. But Evelyn told a different story in the police report she filed and Chad didn’t speak any further about the allegations he made about Evelyn actually being the aggressor. However, in a recent interview with New Times Broward-Palm Beach, the former football star once again low-key suggested that it was Evelyn who headbutted him and he’s only going along with her story because he feels he’s supposed to “cover” her. When asked what really happened that night, Chad says:

“I never talk about that, you know that? For a reason. Let her tell her side. And my job is to cover the story, no matter what. And that’s what I’ve done, and it’s going to stay that way.”

When the interviewer asked him if he’s saying he took the fall for her, Chad answers:

“I’m supposed to. She’s the wife. That’s my job. To cover the story. That’s the way I was taught. That’s the way I was raised. If I’m your dad and I know you did something wrong, I don’t have a choice but to cover the story for you, whether you’re right or wrong. So for me, whether right or wrong or indifferent, if that’s who I’ve committed to even though I messed up, I’m covering the story for her no matter what. No matter what. Whether it’s my fault or her fault. Whether she antagonized me. Whether she pushed my buttons. You know what? You’re right. Period.”

  1. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was true. Don’t expect me to think any woman who was okay with throwing wine bottles and jumping on tables would be calm if she caught her man cheating. -_-

  2. Well he married her when everyone warned him, so he’s still the one at fault. I read about how much his grandmother was trying to warn him, but he just wouldn’t listen. Mama be knowing.

  3. Didn’t Evelyn leave the last guy she was engaged too after he went broke from spending all his money on her? What did Chad expect? A great wife?! GTFOH!

  4. He saw all the signs though. The way she acted on TV should have let him know it wouldn’t end well. He’s wrong for cheating and if he did headbutt her, but I would not be shocked if she was the one who was violent.

  5. Nobody will ever know what exactly happened between them two. But I will say I can believe and wouldn’t be surprised if Evi-lyn actually headbutted Chad. Anybody who jumps on a table like a bat out of hell is capable of anything.

  6. We knew this already Chad. I believe she’s exactly who we see on TV. She got too much enjoyment out of acting up on TV for it not to be who she really is.

  7. Most of us knew this wasn’t going to end well, we just didn’t expect it to end the way it did. Chad’s whole career was ruined over it, and hopefully he understands why it’s so important to choose a woman carefully. It’s more to it than looks and sex.

    1. Yes! I don’t like Ev but I don’t feel sorry for Chad he knew she was no good and he still married her so now he paying the price. When will these men learn.

  8. Well he’s pretty stupid if this is true. Evelyn is not the kind of woman you give up your career for. He was supposed to smash and pass. Not wife her. LOL.

  9. Nah son. I don’t think Chad’s arrogant a-s would take the rap for something this damaging to his career if he didn’t do it.

    1. Neither do I. Also, Evelyn may have jumped over tables and thrown bottles, but from my vantage point, all I saw was her selling wolf tickets. It’s easy to talk a lot of mess and “look bad” when you know that cast members, directors and camera operators will jump in to hold you back. Notice that, besides Tami, she never actually stung anyone. The fight with she and Tami actually took off because they were in such close proximity while arguing. With everyone else she was several feet away with tables and people in the way. Staged. All of it. If not by the producers, definitely by her. Plus, a headbutt is not generally a woman’s first and only strike during a fight. Chad, on the other hand, made a living headbutting people and he also had a previous domestic violence charge. I also think she would have stayed had it been on her. The perks were a whole lot better for her to stay than to leave. On the other hand, no matter how much you want to stay, it’s hard to live with someone when you are literally afraid of what they may do to physically harm you in the future.
