Lil Wayne apologizes to his fans? Lil Wayne has been in the forefront of the rap game for years, and after he proclaimed himself as the “best rapper alive,” he pretty much put himself in a position to be criticized and scrutinized for every lyric he writes. Interestingly enough, his lyrics have been the target of drama and controversy so much so lately that he recently lost a multimillion dollar endorsement deal with Mountain Dew/Pepsi for a very disrespectful lyric about Emmett Till, and although Birdman says he believes the soda company was wrong for dropping the rapper, Lil Wayne himself now feels he was wrong and even apologized to the Till family in the middle of one of his recent performances.

With Kendrick Lamar causing lots of controversy with his verse in Big Sean’s “Control” track, it’s as if Hip Hop may have been revived again. Numerous rappers we haven’t really heard much from in a while have been in the booth recording their responses to the Compton emcee, and now even Kendrick’s own peers are starting to think more about putting more work into their bars, and less on the flashy images. With that kind of impact already on the game, it’s no shock Kendrick Lamar’s latest album just went platinum and he’s managed to nab the most nominations at the upcoming BET Hip Hop Awards. We’re guessing Lil Wayne is starting to notice that he’s being outdone by newer emcees, and it’s got him feeling like it’s time for him to step it up.

The Cash Money Records artist took to his Twitter account to apologize to his fans for letting them down and promises he now plans to work a lot harder. He tweets:

    1. Yeah I think most people are over Lil Wayne. He’s been lazy way too long. He should have came to this conclusion a very long time ago.

  1. Weezy ain’t been hot in like the las few albums. Even Drake is outshining him. Time for him to retire.

    1. Cosign. After what he said about Emmett Till, I feel he definitely needs to have a seat in the corner forever. LOL.

  2. It took him this long to see how lazy he’s been? And he needs to stop collaborating with people like 2 Chainz. Ugh.

  3. Nothing Lil Wayne does at this point surprises me anymore. Went as low to disgrace the name of Emmitt Till. Nicki Minaj can keep being the wack spoke person endorser all she want with saying “Young Money Cash Money” for the record label no amount of marketing, endorsements, PR can revive these two rappers drowning careers.
