A pastor bans women from wearing weaves in his church? When it comes to things that are tolerated in the house of the Lord, they can vary depending on the views of those who are head of the church. A North Carolina pastor recently lost his job over attending a Rick Ross concert. And now a pastor in Texas is voicing his strong dislike of women wearing hair weaves in church. Pastor A.J. Aamir of Resurrecting Faith in Waco, Texas believes ladies who wear weaves are displaying fake images and making it appear as though they have low self esteem. And he tells AmericanPreachers.com that when black women wear weaves, he feels they are trying to be people who they are not and aren’t being real with themselves:

“Our black women are getting weaves trying to be something and someone they are not. Be real with yourself is all I’m saying.”

Pastor Aamir goes on to say that he doesn’t want his members to be obsessed with their hair but rather be more focused on learning the word of God:

“Long hair don’t care. What kind of mess is that? I don’t want my members so focused on what’s on their heads and not IN their heads”

Being the pastor of a church where he says his members are having serious money problems, Pastor Aamir can’t wrap his head around the fact that there are young mothers in his church who spend hundreds of dollars on hair weaves. Pastor Aamir admits his parents were strict growing up which attributes to some of his views. And while he understands he can’t legally keep the female members of his congregation from sporting hair weaves, he definitely does not approve of them.

What do you think about the pastor’s comments about black women who choose to wear weaves?

Is it often a result of low self esteem? Do we get too caught up in what our hair looks like?

Speak on it.

  1. I’m not pro weave either but this man sounds like a fake preacher to me. What someone does to their hair has nothing to do with God’s message. We have way too many fake prophets leading churches and that’s the problem.

  2. This is the problem with these so called pastors these days. What on earth does weave have to do with God and living a Godly life? These wolves are the main reason so many of their members are single. They have them focused on the wrong things!

  3. If he really does ban weaves he’s going to have a hard time retaining members. People don’t play about their weaves. LOL.

  4. He has no idea why women may wear weaves. That is their business. I thought as a pastor he wasn’t supposed to judge. He sounds very dumb.

  5. I think that the media is blowing this up just a bit. Now I believe that you are free to wear and look any way you like, but I think that his point was that you are fine the way God made you. I think that he is focusing on the fact that some members in his congregation are struggling financially but choose to misspend their monies on items such as $300 weaves. Now, I believe that it’s no different when pastors make comments like we buy cars, houses, clothes, and jewelry but we can’t pay our tithes or bills. To me, it’s the same point that he’s trying to make. I personally don’t wear weave but my daughter and other family members do because they want to look a certain way, and portray a certain image. Now that’s strictly up to them, but I can tell you that I don’t let my daughter pay $160-200 for hair if she can’t afford it. As for the self-esteem, I can’t speak to that because everybody has their reasons. It may or maynot be true.

  6. This man has gone waaaayyy too far. Its not his business what people do with their hair or money. Even tho he may be concerned about their spirits, weave ain’t gonna get people sent to hell. Religious people kill me with that BS. They used to look down on women wearing pants to church or red lipstick. What part of wearing red lipstick or pants or weave is gonna get me thrown in the lake of fire???? People need to have a whole stadium full of seats.

  7. Amen pastor…really I get what he is about. He’s just attempting to make the ladies and men in his church realize that all of this hair and false everything is just not necessary. God looks on the inside and focus on that. But…grown people are going to do what ever they want. Hopeful he reached someone
