President Obama won his first term as President because of the many promises of change he promised the country, but in his second term it’s clear the country still isn’t quite where he wants it to be. Unemployment has been one of the biggest issues the country continues to face as a result of a broken economy, but the President continues to tell American’s he’s working diligently on solving the country’s toughest issues. After catching major backlash for his recent comments regarding the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin trial, Obama has some great news to celebrate. According to reports, the unemployment rate has reached its lowest since Obama took office. reports:

The U.S. economy added 162,000 jobs in July, and the official unemployment rate fell to 7.4 percent, the lowest it has been since December 2008, before President Barack Obama took office.

The official unemployment rate fell because the number of unemployed persons dropped by roughly 263,000. June’s unemployment rate had been 7.6 percent; a year ago, the unemployment rate was 8.2 percent.

Industries that added a substantial number of jobs included retail trade, professional and business services, and leisure and hospitality.

The average weekly earnings total for American workers was $824.91 in July, up over the year but down from a month earlier.

Of course President Obama agrees there’s more work to do, and he recently confirmed he plans to switch his focus back to the suffering middle class. He says he feels it’s time to work on the stagnant wages and hopefully expand the middle class by doing so.

I am so proud of my President! This is why I voted for Obama twice. Republicans could never do this.

These stats are good for Obama but they mean nothing to those that are underemployed or not employed at all.
