Rappers have been stepping outside of the box more and more when it comes to fashion and many would cite Kanye West as one of the main reasons the trend continues to take off. Kanye made headlines recently when he performed for the first time in a kilt, and despite the huge amount of backlash he received for rocking what many labeled as a skirt on stage, he repeated the choice on several more occasions after the fact (even though he did have the photo agencies remove any photos of him rocking the kilt for the first time from the internet). With so many younger artists looking up to Kanye as their musical inspiration, people probably aren’t shocked to see that the whole kilt movement has picked up rapidly in Hip Hop.
ASAP Rocky has been known to rock what appears to be skirts and dresses to many throughout his interest in fashion, and he claims the reason he chooses to take so many risks with his style is because of his love for fashion. It now appears Wiz Khalifa is now hopping on the skirt/kilt bandwagon, as the rapper shared a photo of himself wearing a “skirt” to his Instagram account the other day. He posted the following photo and wrote in the caption:
Timeless sleezy a*s pic are you kidding me. Selfie sleaze of the year wow
It didn’t take too long for Wiz’s own fans to start dragging him for the skirt. They wrote:
Wtf? Are you wearing a skirt? Your music is awesome, but you have the fashion sense of a mentally challenged crossdressing baboon.
