Rapper Drake has proven he is a big deal when it comes to today’s Hip Hop scene, and the rapper has proven that he can go platinum in a music industry where most artists are struggling to just go gold. With his eyes set on surpassing Kanye West musically, he’s probably quite enthusiastic about the fact that his latest album “Nothing Was the Same” has already outsold the total sales of “Yeezus,” its first week alone. Drake is very proud of the album and claims it’s his most honest album to date, and he says he has no shame in the fact that he is still singing quite a bit in his music. We’re assuming most of his fans aren’t bothered by his singing, and his album will probably be certified platinum in a few weeks.

Interestingly enough, it’s just been confirmed that Drake’s current single “Hold On” has already hit the platinum mark, and it’s blazing the charts something serious. HipHop-N-More reports some good news for Drake, Jay Z and Eminem:

Jay-Z’s lead single from his Magna Carta Holy Grail album featuring Justin Timberlake has sold 118,000 copies this week, taking the total to over 2 million digital units. The album is already double platinum.

Eminem continues to sell mighty numbers as well. His Rick Rubin-produced single ‘Berzerk’ moved 115,000 copies this week which helped him get past the 1 million mark (total 1,110,000). His new album MMLP2 (Marshall Mathers LP2) will hit stores on November 5th.

Drake’s pop single ‘Hold On We’re going On’ featuring Majid Jordan is another one to hit the magic mark this week by selling 131k and taking the total to 1,062,000.

Congrats to Drake, Eminem and Jay Z on their successful singles.

  1. Drake just keeps on winning. I won’t lie, this song is my jam right now. It’s the perfect song for when you just want a drink and something to rock to.

  2. I got this song and the whole album in heavy rotation in my car. Drake did his thing on this album. It’s just a good time for hip hop. We got young emcees like Drake, K. Dot, J. Cole, Wale. Man…I’m loving it.
