Drake and Kendrick Lamar are without a doubt two of Hip Hop’s brightest when it comes to younger emcees, and most were shocked Kendrick actually called out Drake and several others of his peers in the “Control” verse. Kendrick says he didn’t intend to come off malicious, but he just wants all his close friends and peers to step up lyrically and he has his sights set on becoming one of the best to ever pick up the mic. While Wale and Big Sean made it clear they weren’t offended and have nothing but love for Kendrick, things have become pretty sour between Kendrick, Drake and Meek Mill. Meek Mill even called Kendrick out on his Twitter account and it appears things still aren’t good between them.

Drake has made it clear in his recent interviews that he’s annoyed with people asking him about the verse, and he even claimed he doesn’t feel Kendrick will ever see the amount of success he’s seen in his own career. In fact, Drake doesn’t feel like he needs to worry about Kendrick because he’s more focused on surpassing Kanye West. Drake also admitted that the verse makes him not want to collaborate with Kendrick again any time soon, and he even suggested other artists named in the verse feel the same way.

We’re assuming Kendrick didn’t like Drake’s comments so much because he reportedly threw some jabs at the Canadian emcee in his recent BET Hip Hop Awards cypher and even called him out for being “sensitive.” Drake hasn’t yet responded to the new diss, but a lot of his critics feel he should. Even Erykah Badu took to her Twitter account recently to urge Drake to respond because she feels that is what Hip Hop is about. She tweets:

    1. What career? The last we heard from Ms. Badu she was saying she’s too good to do ho sh-t to sell albums, but then she turned right around and got butt naked for a music video. She’s washed up.

  1. LOL I love her. But I kind of agree with her too. There’s nothing wrong with a few battles here and there as long as it doesn’t get out of hand.

  2. I think Drake will respond but it will be on some sneak diss stuff. He’s not really the best at battling. Common demolished him and he’s been chill ever since. LOL.

  3. Drake thinks he’s too big of a star to respond to Kendrick…or he’s scared. Hmm, I think it’s the former though.

  4. Drake is scurrred. He’s not trying to battle Kendrick because he knows he will lose. I like Drake but I don’t think he can see Kendrick lyrically.

  5. When is she going to come out with a new album?! That’s what I want to know! We need some new music ma’am!

  6. I agree. Drake is being way too sensitive. It’s just music and he’s always getting his panties in a bunch when someone challenges him.

  7. Not for nothing, but do you honestly think that the other rappers mentioned in the verse don’t feel the same way he does? Seriously, take aside the fact that everyone thinks that Drake is sensitive and blah blah blah; if its a competition, and Kendrick is trying to ignite that same rap spirit, why WOULD anyone of these men get on a song with him anytime in the NEAR future? I’m not saying that it will never happen again, but I doubt highly that it will happen within the next couple of months or so. Furthermore, I don’t even think that Drake was coming from a place of sensitivity, that just sounded like some real sh-t being told. Drake doesn’t have to be on some f-ck Kendrick type wave, but he definitely can be like “you cool over there, WAY over there. You do your thing, and I’ll do mine and I’ll see you at the top of the charts. No more, no less.”

As far as responding, sure he should respond. But not to appease anyone of us, he doesn’t have to. That man has an album that just came out and an upcoming tour, let that dude rock and ya’ll worry about why Wale didn’t respond lyrically and all the other rap n-ggas he mentioned.

    1. Sorry for the shameless plug in lol but I am so pissed w/ my fantasy football team I had Calvin Johnson today and he was hurt today.

      1. Are you kidding me?! You too?! Girl I’m losing so bad this week because I didn’t bench him! I didn’t even get an alert that he was out! I’m so mad because I worked my behind off to get in the top three. I hate Yahoo sometimes LOL.

        1. I dropped him in time but I picked up sorry a-s Steve Smith who ain’t do nothing today I was counting on Calvin Johnson points. Ugg the struggle is real in fantasy football lol!

          1. Steve Smith?! Yeah, he’s a terrible Fantasy option these days. I’m staying away from Cam Newton too. IDK what’s up with Carolina. My kicker is saving me right now though. Thank goodness! #GoBroncos lol

  8. Man, whatever. Drake is very successful and I like his music but let’s not act like he’s some battle rapper or even that big of a threat when it comes to bars. He’s not, he just outshines all the crappy rappers out here. He doesn’t have the heart the GOATS had. Nas, Jay, Tupac, Biggie, etc. all of them got on the mic and battled. That’s what they did. These young guys are cowards and these young Hip Hop fans are on some coward ish too. They think it’s about who makes the most money and it’s not because at the end of the day, it’s about who has more skills. And I’m sorry Drake fans, that would be Kendrick. People want to hate on Kendrick because he has a lot of buzz right now but he deserves it in an industry full of lazy rappers. Drake will get outdone period if he tries to go after Kendrick and he knows it. He’s still shook from when Common embarrassed him.

  9. This is turning into drama. That verse was nothing more than a call to bring their A game. Not a call to go verse for verse, interview for interview, etc. *shrug* my sugar simply feels no one is more hungry than him at the moment, and he’s coming for the top spot. If the people mentioned wouldn’t want to collaborate with Kendrick because of that verse? That’s stupid.
In other news, I went to see him perform last Thursday. *swoon* 🙂 lol

      1. Giirrrrrrl!!! Every time he comes here I make sure I have my ticket!!! Check ticketmaster to see when he’ll be in your area.

  10. Nothing good can come from Drake responding to K Dot. Nothing at all. Drake is definitely doing the right thing. Staying in his lane and making his bread. It’s impossible to even effectively respond to Kendrick because you’ll be ‘responding to Kendrick’… you’ll only elevate Kendrick. There are so many variables that could go wrong for Drake in any type of response.
